Himawari Uzumaki’s Background

Still from the anime.

Himawari Uzumaki, the youngest child of Naruto and Hinata Uzumaki, was born two years after her brother, Boruto. On the day of her father's inauguration as the Seventh Hokage, she eagerly clutched her beloved panda toy, hoping to bring it along to the ceremony. However, her older brother Boruto was less than thrilled about the idea, fearing that he would be stuck carrying the toy around all day.

In a moment of sibling rivalry, a tug-of-war ensued between the two over the panda toy, and to their horror, its head was ripped off. This proved to be a grave mistake, as it sparked Himawari's uncontrollable anger and awoke her powerful Byakugan, a rare and formidable ocular jutsu inherited from her mother's clan.

Boruto quickly realized the gravity of the situation and apologized repeatedly, but it was too late. Himawari's rage could not be contained, and she launched a fierce attack on her older brother. Naruto, sensing the danger, rushed to the scene and intervened, shielding Boruto from Himawari's wrath.

The force of Himawari's attack was so great that it knocked Naruto unconscious, leaving Boruto terrified and remorseful. He fled in fear, but Himawari's powerful Byakugan easily located him hiding in a closet. From that day on, Boruto vowed never to upset his younger sister again, realizing the true extent of her strength and power.

Academy Entrance Arc

On the day before Boruto's entrance ceremony at the Academy, Hinata sat down with her children and recounted her time in the Academy with Naruto. Himawari was delighted to hear the story, but Boruto seemed uninterested, having already heard it before. However, later that day, Boruto returned home and Himawari asked him to play with her. Politely declining, Boruto remembered Himawari's impressive Byakugan and sought to learn more about the powerful ocular jutsu. He approached Hinata and asked her about it, hoping to understand what had been happening to him. However, their conversation was cut short by Naruto's arrival home. Exhausted from a long day at work, he was too tired to join his family for dinner, much to Himawari's disappointment.

Later, Boruto was acting strange, like some sort of flashy movie hero, and it had Himawari worried. Something was definitely off with her brother. When the family finally confronted Boruto about his odd behavior, he stunned everyone by claiming he had awakened his Byakugan. Naruto couldn't believe it at first, but after considering that Himawari was able to manifest her Byakugan with no training whatsoever, he figured it was not impossible.

Determined to find out the truth, Naruto decided to take his kids to Hiashi Hyūga for some answers. Once they arrived, the aging Hyūga head immediately started doting on his grandkids, especially Himawari. She quickly returned the love and attention, melting everyone's hearts.

As Boruto discussed his allegations of manifesting the Byakugan with Hiashi, they decided to put his theory to the test with a duel against Hanabi. Himawari watched in dismay as Boruto was soundly defeated by their aunt. It was a crushing blow, and the conclusion was clear: Boruto did not have the Byakugan after all.

Later, the Uzumaki family decided to spend the night at the Hyūga house. The next day, something miraculous happened. Boruto came to terms with not having the Byakugan and reverted back to his normal self. It was a shocking transformation that even caught Himawari off guard.

Himawari was overjoyed at the prospect of welcoming Boruto's friend Mitsuki to their home. And as if that wasn't enough, Naruto was going to be joining them for dinner too! She couldn't contain her excitement as she helped her mother prepare a feast fit for everyone.

Finally, the time had come for dinner, and Himawari eagerly sat at the dining table with her family, waiting for Naruto to arrive. But just as they were about to dig in, Naruto received word of a strange release of chakra spreading throughout the village. Using his shadow clones to disperse, he left his family behind to investigate the matter, much to the disappointment of both Boruto and Himawari.

Despite the sudden change of plans, Himawari remained understanding, sitting quietly with her mother as they awaited Naruto's return. But Boruto was not as patient, showing his displeasure at Naruto's sudden departure.

Sarada Uchiha Arc

In the anime, Himawari fell ill with a nasty fever, causing her to stay in bed for days. Luckily, her older brother Boruto was there to watch over her, keeping her company and making sure she had everything she needed. But it was Naruto's return home that brought the biggest smile to Himawari's face, as she was overjoyed to see her father so worried about her well-being.

Later, on the day of the Kage Summit, Himawari accompanied her mother on a solemn visit to Neji Hyūga's grave. With sunflowers in hand, Himawari asked if her late uncle would appreciate the flowers, to which her mother replied that he certainly would, as they were the same as her name. Hinata then explained the significance of Himawari's name. Himawari then expressed her desire to visit the memorial site again, this time with her brother by her side.

School Trip Arc

In the anime, Himawari bid farewell to Boruto as he embarked on a school trip to Kirigakure, also known as the Village Hidden in the Mist, hoping for a souvenir upon his return. But fate had other plans, as Boruto became involved in a dangerous conflict to stop a coup d'état. Unfortunately, in the chaos, he completely forgot his promise to his little sister. As a result, Himawari became withdrawn and saddened, causing Hinata to finally intervene and remind Boruto of his unfulfilled promise.

Realizing his mistake, Boruto scrambled to make it right, seeking the help of his friend Kagura Karatachi. After obtaining a Kiri box of sweets, Boruto mustered the courage to come clean, apologizing to Himawari for his neglect and admitting his faults. To his relief, Himawari was more than happy to receive both the gift and her brother's sincere apology, once again beaming with joy.

Later, Himawari showed off her artistic talent by winning first prize in a children's art competition with a portrait of her father. Sai Yamanaka, a jonin, invited Himawari to act as a guest teacher and inspire his son, Inojin Yamanaka, who was going through an art slump. This, however, didn't sit well with Boruto, who was irritated by his little sister's sudden popularity.

But as Himawari shared her knowledge and passion for art, Inojin sought her out to become his teacher and learn more about the subject. Inojin realized that the key to creating meaningful art was to put emotions into his work, something Himawari was adept at doing. He also learned the importance of valuing one's own artwork when Himawari saved the portrait she made of her father.

Genin Mission Arc

In the anime, Himawari bid farewell to her older brother as he set off on his very first genin mission.

Byakuya Gang Arc

In the anime, as the notorious Byakuya Gang made their presence felt in the village, Himawari was in the midst of a family dinner with her mother and brother. The curious little girl couldn't help but ask her mother about the gang's reputation and whether they were good or bad.

When it was time for Boruto's birthday, Himawari happily lent a helping hand to her mother in getting things ready for the party. However, when Naruto was unable to attend due to work, Himawari became determined to ensure that their father would be present for her own upcoming birthday celebration. Seeing how much it meant to his sister, Boruto made a solemn vow to do everything in his power to ensure that their father wouldn't miss out on the important family occasion.

Naruto Shinden: Parent and Child Day

In the anime, on Parent and Child Day, Himawari was so excited about her father's return that she fell asleep at the doorstep while waiting for him. When Naruto finally arrived, Himawari eagerly asked for the new Kurama doll that was released that day. Despite his fatigue, Naruto agreed to make his daughter happy. The father-daughter duo headed out to the store, only to find a massive crowd waiting outside for the doll's release.

Along the way, they bumped into Kiba Inuzuka and his two loyal canines, Akamaru and Akemaru, who were also on the hunt for the doll as a gift for Kiba's girlfriend Tamaki. Himawari couldn't resist petting the adorable dogs as Naruto and Kiba raced into the store, only to come out empty-handed as the Kurama dolls were all sold out and in all the commotion, Naruto mistakenly purchased a Shukaku doll instead, which also irritated Kurama as he mistook Shukaku for him.

Kiba came to the rescue and suggested that they split up to search different stores but to no avail. Along the way, they ran into Ino and Tenten, who couldn't help them with the doll but gave them something else as a token of appreciation. Naruto bought some kunai and a necklace from Tenten to help her business.

Fortunately, Kiba found a Kurama doll and decided to give it to Hima, instead of his girlfriend. However, it turned out to be stolen. Naruto chased the thief down and discovered that the culprit was a father who just wanted to make his son happy. Himawari, moved by the father's love for his child, decided to give the doll to the boy, realizing that the joy of giving was more important than receiving.

Despite not getting the doll she wanted, Himawari was still happy with the gifts her father had bought for her and the time they spent together. She went to bed cuddled up with her Shukaku doll, while Naruto spent time with Boruto. Hinata watched over her daughter, grateful for the love and joy that filled their home.

Versus Momoshiki Arc

It was a special day for Himawari, as it was her birthday, and she was spending it with her mother in Naruto's study. The room was cluttered with books, scrolls, and other items, but the two of them were busy cleaning and dusting everything in sight. As they were rummaging through the piles, Himawari stumbled upon her father's old jacket, which was worn and tattered. She showed it to her mother, who smiled nostalgically as she reminisced about the memories associated with it.

Later in the day, as they made their way through the bustling village, they met up with Boruto and his teammates. Himawari's excitement was palpable as she informed her older brother that they needed to hurry home for her birthday celebration. The team wished her a happy birthday and continued on their way, leaving the family to prepare for the evening's festivities.

As the day turned to night, the family eagerly awaited Naruto's arrival, but he was nowhere to be found. As Naruto got caught up in work, he sent his shadow clone in his place to celebrate with the family. However, it ended up disappearing, leaving behind a ruined birthday cake. Boruto was furious with his father for not being there, as he had warned him not to miss Hima’s birthday. On the other hand, Himawari remained composed and understanding.

After a long and grueling process, Boruto had successfully made it through the second round of the Chunin Exams. When he returned home, Himawari was overjoyed and showered him with congratulations.

As the competition progressed, Himawari accompanied her mother to watch the final round of the Chunin Exams, eager to witness Boruto's battle against Shikadai. She watched as Boruto emerged victorious, but her happiness was short-lived. It was soon revealed that Boruto had cheated during the fight, using a scientific ninja tool, and he was ultimately disqualified from the competition.

Confused and unsure of what was happening, Himawari turned to her mother and asked if Boruto had done something wrong. However, Hinata remained silent and simply wrapped her arms around her daughter, holding her tightly as they watched the events unfold in front of them. Suddenly, chaos erupted as Momoshiki and Kinshiki appeared and launched a surprise attack on the arena. Amid the confusion and terror, Himawari clung to her mother's hand as they frantically fled from the danger.

Following the devastating attack by Momoshiki and Kinshiki, Hinata was hospitalized for the injuries she sustained during the chaos. Himawari anxiously stood by her mother's bedside, holding her hand tightly as Sakura worked to heal Hinata's injuries.

In the anime, Himawari and Boruto shared a belated birthday dinner. Naruto made an appearance in person, much to his children's delight, but his arrival was not without incident. Boruto mistook him for a shadow clone and punched him, leading to a scolding from their father. In the midst of the chaos, Himawari remained calm and asked for a piggyback ride, a simple request that helped ease the tension in the room.

The following day, Himawari enjoyed breakfast with her family. As Naruto and Boruto prepared to leave for the day, Himawari reminded her father not to forget his lunch. She handed him the lunch and watched as he and Boruto walked out the front door, bidding them a fond farewell alongside her mother

As Boruto entered the room, he noticed his younger sister sitting in front of the television, her eyes fixed on the screen as Lily Himeno's music videos played. Boruto approached her and asked if she liked Lily. Himawari replied that she likes Lily and thinks that she is cute and a good dancer.

In the anime, Himawari was eagerly looking forward to a family camping trip but became disappointed when she found out that Boruto was going on a training mission with Team 7 instead. Unbeknownst to her, Boruto's true intention was to seek out Sasuke for training.

Upon Boruto's return with a miniature version of Shukaku sealed in a tea kettle, Himawari quickly grew attached to the tiny-tailed beast, treating it like a talking toy and keeping it close to her. While Shukaku found her attachment annoying at first, it became intrigued by the fact that she once knocked out Kurama, and hoped to learn her secret as a means of mocking the fox. In an attempt to win over Himawari's favor, Shukaku played nice with her, but quickly turned cold again when he learned that she had no knowledge of the incident. This left Himawari feeling sad and confused.

Later on, Himawari and Boruto were devastated to learn that Shukaku had been mistaken for trash and sent to the scrapyard. Fearing for the tailed beast's safety, they desperately searched for it and were overjoyed to find it just in time before it was crushed by machinery. In a moment of despair, Himawari's Byakugan was activated once again, allowing her to save Shukaku with ease. This act of genuine concern and kindness from Himawari softened Shukaku's attitude toward her.

Although Himawari was saddened by the news that Shukaku would be moved to a new safe house, she smiled when she saw Shukaku give her a friendly goodbye.

Time Slip Arc

In the anime, Boruto was thrilled at the prospect of training with Sasuke once again. Hinata couldn't help but notice how similar Boruto was to Naruto at that age, always eager to train with his mentor Jiraiya. She shared with Himawari and Boruto a photo of the legendary Sannin, whom Himawari thought looked eccentric and wild. Hinata went on to tell her children about Jiraiya's impressive skills as a ninja and how he had been a father figure to Naruto.

Sometime later, Himawari participated in her grandfather's birthday celebration with the rest of her family. With Hinata's help, Himawari chose a scarf as a gift for her beloved grandfather, hoping it would bring him good health. Later on, she joined in a family photo as part of Boruto's gift to their grandfather.

Mujina Bandits Arc

In the anime, Himawari was given the opportunity to attend a one-day trial session at the Ninja Academy. During the session, she was paired up with Yuina Itomaki and Ehō Norimaki as her practice partners. Despite impressing her fellow trainees with her natural talent for ninja skills, they were surprised to learn that the Hokage's daughter wasn't sure about becoming a shinobi. Ehō, in particular, was irritated by this and felt that she was treating the life of a shinobi like a game. This created tension within the practice team when they were assigned a mission to retrieve a missing pet cat. When Ehō scolded Himawari for wanting to give up so easily when things got difficult, she was left behind to sulk.

Principal Iruka Umino approached her and told her that there was no rush to find a career path at her age and that the trial was just meant to motivate children to look toward the future. Himawari resolved to complete the mission, earning praise from Iruka for her bravery, which was similar to her father's.

During the mission, Himawari found her teammates had fallen into a well with the cat. Ehō considered quitting rather than accepting help from Himawari, but she scolded him and encouraged him to never give up. Working together, the three were able to retrieve the cat and complete the mission. Later that night, Himawari expressed her desire to experience all the various jobs in the village to find her path and playfully asked her brother for assistance. The trio maintained their friendship and continued their training in shinobi skills.

Kara Actuation Arc

Himawari was devastated upon learning that her older brother had suffered a severe injury during a battle. She watched anxiously as Boruto underwent surgery, her mother by her side. When Naruto arrived, she could see the worry etched on his face. However, to her relief, the operation was successful and Boruto was stabilized.

Even after Boruto was released from the hospital and began training with Kakashi Hatake to become stronger, Himawari remained worried about him. But Hinata encouraged her to have faith in her brother and his abilities as a true shinobi who wanted to help others. To show her support, Himawari assisted her mother in preparing a bento for Boruto and delivered it to him along with a note to remind him that he had their support.

Ao Arc

In the anime, Himawari participated in a solemn memorial service held in honor of the fallen heroes of the Fourth Shinobi World War, paying her respects to those who lost their lives in the conflict.

Sometime after, with their mother's birthday approaching, Himawari took it upon herself to craft a handmade vase as a heartfelt present for their beloved parent. Her artistic efforts served as a reminder to Boruto that he too needed to select a gift for their mother.

When the time came to present their offerings, Boruto arrived with a charming gesture - a bundle of freshly picked flowers that he carefully placed inside Himawari's vase. The delicate beauty of the flowers complemented the vase's craftsmanship, resulting in a touching and meaningful gift that expressed the siblings' love and appreciation for their mother.

Kawaki Arc

Upon returning from their mission with a mysterious boy possessing unique abilities, Naruto decided to treat him with kindness rather than locking him up. The boy, however, remained hostile toward everyone and made no effort to befriend the family. This made Himawari hesitant to interact with him. The boy eventually attempted to escape, but Naruto used his power to stop him. Upon Boruto's return, Himawari excitedly greeted her brother but was devastated to see that the guest's actions had destroyed the vase she had made as a gift for their mother, Hinata. As Himawari cleaned up the broken pieces, the boy gruffly apologized and introduced himself as Kawaki. The next day, Hinata helped her dispose of the broken vase and assured her that the effort and care she had put into making it for her mother was what mattered most.

During a meal, Himawari playfully teased Boruto for enjoying their father's company after he offered to spar with him. As they watched the match, Kawaki showed a fascination with Naruto's shadow clones, which Himawari explained to him. Kawaki suggested that Boruto should use his Kāma to understand its power, even though Boruto couldn't activate it at will. Kawaki activated his own Kāma to make Boruto respond, leading to a remarkable improvement in Boruto's performance. Despite Boruto's loss, Naruto praised his son for his recent growth. Kawaki was intrigued by the Seal of Reconciliation that Naruto and Boruto used to show their respect to each other, and Himawari explained its significance.

Later on, Himawari showed compassion towards Kawaki, despite his unfriendly attitude towards her and her family. When Kawaki accidentally destroyed her vase, she forgave him and even offered to buy a new one. Meanwhile, Boruto took the opportunity to learn more about their Kāma from Kawaki, and Himawari watched their sparring match with interest. However, the match was cut short when an intruder appeared, forcing Naruto to protect Kawaki while instructing Boruto to take Himawari away to safety.

During the subsequent battle, Himawari watched as her father and Kawaki fought Delta, a member of Kara who was after Kawaki, who was the vessel of Isshiki Otsutsuki. Then, Delta used Himawari as bait to try to defeat Naruto and Kawaki intervened to protect her, sacrificing his hand in the process. Eventually, Naruto defeated Delta, and Himawari celebrated his victory with her family.

Later on, Jigen, the leader of Kara, attacked their home in an attempt to reclaim Kawaki. Although Naruto and Sasuke were critically injured, they were able to recover, much to Himawari's relief.

In the anime, she also found a lone and injured white wolf, whom she named Jaggy. She spent a week trying to care for the wolf by bringing it food, but unfortunately, Jaggy was killed by a bear. Saddened by the loss, she believed that if the wolf had been aided by its pack, it would have survived. Kawaki helped her bury the wolf, and Himawari's words ultimately influenced his decision to stay in the village.

Chunin Re-Examination Arc

In the aftermath of Isshiki's attack, Naruto decided to organize a new Chūnin Exam in the anime. During the first written exam, Himawari noticed Boruto's excitement as he passed it and even treated Kawaki to some taiyaki. However, she warned him that their mother disapproves of snacking before dinner.

On the day of the finals, while practicing, Ehō noticed some suspicious men and followed them with Yuina to the train station. Meanwhile, Himawari went to get Boruto and Mitsuki for help. Together, they witnessed the men kidnapping Amado, and the young genin gave chase. However, Himawari and her friends had to stay behind as they were unable to keep up. Later, Boruto returned home, having saved Amado but missing his match in the finals. Himawari joined her family for dinner, relieved that everyone was safe.

Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc

In the anime, Himawari had the fortunate luck of winning a raffle that would take her family on a relaxing vacation to a hot spring resort. During their stay, she found herself in the role of referee as her father and mother defeated Boruto and Kawaki in a game of ping-pong. Later on, she beat her father in a challenging card-matching game.

However, her mood shifted when she discovered that Boruto and Kawaki had gone on a stamp hunt without her. Feeling left out and excluded, Himawari's frustration escalated to the point where she activated her Byakugan. Boruto quickly realized his mistake and apologized, urging Kawaki to do the same.

Kawaki & Himawari Academy Arc

Himawari was at a crossroads about her future, so she decided to join the Ninja Academy to explore her interests and meet new people. To her delight, she found herself in the same class as Ehō and Yuina. Due to her talent and being the Hokage's daughter, Himawari became quite popular among her peers. But when she noticed Kawaki, who was also in her class, taking an interest in Kae Yukiwari, a princess who was an exchange student, she couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

The next day, Himawari confronted Kawaki about his unusual behavior and discovered that he was on a secret mission to protect Kae. Though Kawaki initially refused her help, Himawari insisted on teaching him proper party etiquette when he had to attend a tea party hosted by Kae. During the event, Himawari noticed Kawaki's social awkwardness and helped cover for him while bonding with Kae over their fathers' leadership roles.

When Kawaki caused a scene to prevent Kae from eating a cake laced with poison, Himawari followed him and learned that it was a part of his mission. Together, they deduced that Osuka Kamakura was behind the plot, but Himawari wanted proof before accusing her. After questioning a suspect and investigating the cake's storage area, they discovered the truth and exposed Osuka's evil plan. The party resumed, with everyone enjoying the taiyaki that Kawaki had brought, and Himawari managed to convince Kawaki to let her continue helping him with his missions despite his reluctance to put her in danger.

During a visit by Team 7 to Himawari's class as special instructors, a team exercise caused a rift in the class which she warned Boruto about. Their homeroom teacher eventually sorted things out, and the class attended Himawari's cherry blossom viewing party and picnic. Later, Himawari was part of a group of students who wanted to investigate the Seven Mysteries associated with the Academy. She plotted their route and was one of the few students who completed the investigation until the end. While she initially believed the mysteries were real, she later discovered that Kawaki and Batora were behind them when she activated her Byakugan. She kept quiet about it, happy that Kae enjoyed the experience. However, Kawaki later deduced that she knew.

During a practical lesson, Himawari was placed in a team with Kae and Sōsha, and she and Sōsha chose Kae as their leader. Himawari looked after Kae during the lesson for Kawaki but lost track of her when Konashi requested a private meeting with Kae. Himawari found Kae, but they were attacked by a flame bear. Hana distracted the bear, allowing them to escape, and Himawari informed Kawaki of the development. Himawari's team ended up performing the best that day. Although she was sad that she couldn't help Kawaki, he pointed out that she did protect Kae.

While trying to befriend Osuka, they were kidnapped by Oppo and Teru, under Aniki's orders. Though Oppo and Teru only wanted to ransom Osuka to her celebrity parents, Aniki planned to sell Himawari to enemies of the Seventh Hokage. Himawari remained calm throughout the ordeal and listened as Osuka expressed doubt that her mother would pay her ransom. Himawari learned about Oppo and Teru's circumstances and assured them that they would not face capital punishment if they apologized. After they fell asleep, Himawari convinced Osuka to attempt an escape. Osuka tied their legs while Himawari tried to fight off Aniki. Aniki began choking her, but Kawaki arrived just in time to save her and defeat Aniki. After their arrest, Himawari checked on Oppo and Teru, stressing that their concern for her was a positive change in their nature. They promised her to have a fresh start after their sentence. She witnessed Hibari and Osuka's reconciliation, after which Osuka apologized for her attitude, and Hibari invited everyone for pudding.

Himawari found herself playing an unexpected role in the school play, cast as her grandfather, the Fourth Hokage. When she forgot her prop forehead protector, Kawaki offered her his real one, but she warned him of the risk of being exposed as a real shinobi. Unfortunately, they were seen by Eiki, and rumors began to spread. During a rehearsal, Eiki's attempt to steal Kawaki's forehead protector resulted in damage to the set. Himawari encouraged Kawaki to reach out to Eiki, and they worked together to fix the damage. Later, Himawari and Kawaki searched for his missing forehead protector, but Osuka returned it to him, and Eiki apologized for his previous behavior.

On the day of the festival, Himawari was tasked with watching over Kae while Kawaki went to deal with a terrorist threat. When smoke bombs went off, Himawari activated her Byakugan to protect Kae from an assassin. She took Kae outside, but the assassin followed them. Kawaki arrived just in time to save them.

After the attack, Himawari visited Hana in the hospital and was interviewed by the police. She convinced Kawaki to continue protecting Kae and worked with Eiki to investigate the identity of the mastermind behind the attack. They suspected Batora and rushed to Kae's mansion to protect her from the assassin who had injured him. Himawari stayed with Kae and Batora while Kawaki fought the assassin, who eventually committed suicide. Batora revealed that he was investigating the mastermind behind the assassination plot. The next day, Himawari apologized to Eiki for leaving him behind.

Despite the mission to protect Kae being over, Himawari was pleased to see that Kawaki continued to attend the Academy with her. Together, they welcomed Hana back as their teacher. Sensing that Kawaki was still troubled by the assassin's surrender, they decided to investigate further and enlisted Kae's help in gathering clues at her mansion.

Hana planned survival training for her class on an uninhabited island, but they lost their food supply and Kikuchiyo got injured in a trap, leading them to suspect the presence of dangerous missing-nin on the island. Himawari, Osuka, and Neon went in search of food and heard a noise in the trees. When Neon's drone was damaged while investigating, they alerted the rest of the class and searched for the drone.

At night, Kawaki expressed his concern for Kae's safety and asked Himawari about the damaged drone. She noticed that the drone seemed too damaged for the height it fell from, and its blades were cut clean. Himawari suggested checking the drone footage, which led Kawaki to discover flower petals in the corner of the screen, pointing to Hana's involvement. The class found Hana and Kae searching for a flower arrangement Kae had made, which Himawari discovered destroyed. Hana admitted to being an impostor and ran off with Kae. Himawari suspected that Kae might still be alive and was held hostage.

Hana separated them by burning a bridge and seemingly stabbing Kae. The class arrived, and Kawaki informed them of Hana's actions. Himawari was too exhausted to locate Kae with her Byakugan, and they had to work together to find her. They rescued Kae from Hana, who revealed her dual personality and attacked them with Fire Release. Himawari was hesitant to harm Hana, but Kawaki reminded her that their priority was to protect themselves and Kae. They defeated Hana by breaking through her paper barrier, and Anbu arrived to arrest her.

The class performed the Sannin play before saying goodbye to Kae at the train station. Himawari's parents noticed her dedication to the Academy, despite her uncertainty about becoming a shinobi.

Code's Assault Arc

Himawari hosted a welcoming dinner party for Kawaki at her house with her family. During the dinner, Kawaki noticed that Himawari had kept the old vase instead of using the new one he gifted her, and he suggested she use the new one instead. However, Himawari revealed that the old vase held sentimental value for her, making it more precious than any new gift.

Later, when Kawaki tried on Boruto's forehead protector, Himawari complimented him, suggesting that he could also wear it as a neck accessory if he wasn't comfortable wearing it on his forehead.

Himawari became worried when she learned that Boruto and Kawaki had gone outside the village to fight an enemy. Naruto promised her that he would bring them home safely, and Hinata tried to accompany him, but Naruto reminded her of the importance of staying with Himawari in case something happened.

Omnipotence Arc

Himawari observed her mother's apprehension as Boruto was called in for his first mission in a while. Boruto attempted to calm her fears, but Himawari remained concerned about the possibility of him not returning. She expressed a desire to become a shinobi so that she could assist Boruto and asked if this would only worry her mother more.

Later, while out shopping for bread and tea, Himawari attracted the attention of Daemon, who sensed a strong energy emanating from her and expressed a desire to fight her. Boruto intervened and explained to Daemon that Himawari was not a trained shinobi and did not know how to fight. Boruto disapproved of Daemon's interest in her, assuming it was a crush.

Upon returning home, Himawari discovered that their house was being investigated. She noticed a broken picture frame and became worried about the sudden disappearance of her parents.

Himawari Uzumaki’s Personality

Himawari, the delightful and thoughtful daughter of Naruto and Hinata, is truly a gem. With a heart full of love and a mind full of curiosity, this little girl never ceases to amaze those around her. Her love for her family is unparalleled; paying her respects to her late cousin Neji by leaving flowers on his grave, and constantly seeking to spend time with her beloved older brother Boruto.

But it's not just her family that Himawari cares for, as she extends her kindness to strangers as well. In one instance, she selflessly gave away her treasured Kurama toy to a boy she felt needed it more than herself. Even wild animals can't resist her gentle nature, as she approaches them with acceptance and ease.

Despite her lineage and the expectations placed upon her to become a shinobi, Himawari is determined to forge her own path in life. With a thirst for knowledge, she seeks to experience different career paths to determine her own goals.

When her mother was injured during the attack by Momoshiki, Himawari showed great maturity and responsibility beyond her years, tending to her mother's side as she was being healed. And like her father, she has a tendency to affectionately give nicknames to those around her, like "Oro-chan" for Orochimaru.

But don't let her sweet disposition fool you, as Himawari is also a quick study, possessing an impressive understanding of chakra manipulation and advanced techniques like the Shadow Clone Technique, despite not yet being enrolled in the Academy. Her sharp senses also allow her to keenly observe changes in people's attitudes. All in all, Himawari is truly a force to be reckoned with, a shining star in her own right.

Himawari may come across as sweet and charming, but don't let her fool you - this little firecracker has a temper that can rival even her father's. When Boruto accidentally damaged her beloved plush toy, she unleashed her fury on him in a fit of rage. The aftermath left Boruto so traumatized that he vowed to never anger her again, while even her father and Kurama trembled in fear at her display of aggression. Despite this, Himawari possesses a stubbornness and hyperactivity that runs in the family, making her a force to be reckoned with when she sets her mind to something.

Despite her occasionally impulsive behavior, Himawari also displays a lot of admirable qualities. She's incredibly brave and loyal to her friends, able to keep her cool even in the most dangerous of situations. Her forgiving nature is also noteworthy, as she's able to see the best in people even when they've made mistakes. In fact, she's even known to forgive and forget when someone has made a genuine effort to do better.

Himawari's intrusive tendencies also add to her charm, albeit in a somewhat cheeky way. When she sets her sights on something, she won't stop until she gets it - even if it means relentlessly questioning Kawaki in an attempt to get closer to him. Her eagerness to help him win over Kae is endearing, even if it makes Kawaki uncomfortable at times. All in all, it's clear that there's much more to Himawari than meets the eye.

Himawari is a spitting image of her mother, sporting luscious dark-blue locks styled with hime-cut and straight bangs. Like her elder brother, her hair flares outwards at the sides and back and features a quirky ahoge, resembling a leaf's stem, on top of her head. The young girl has inherited her father's piercing blue eyes, trademark whisker marks on both cheeks and distinctive facial features, which make her a sight to behold. It's no wonder she's often praised for her cuteness, as she has the perfect blend of her parents' traits.

As a toddler, Himawari's wardrobe mostly consisted of light and pastel colors, with a pink sweater and a three-layered white flutter skirt paired with black pants and pink sandals. During her visit to Neji's grave, she donned a bright yellow, collared, long-sleeved shirt with an orange sunflower cross-hatch pattern, red pumpkin shorts, and yellow shinobi sandals.

In the Boruto: Naruto the Movie, she kept it stylish with a light yellow hooded sweater with a blue shirt underneath that had a petal-like pattern, matched with a two-layered pink flutter skirt, black open-toed stockings, and fuchsia shinobi sandals.

As Himawari enrolled in the academy, she opted for a more straightforward and practical look, wearing a black long-sleeved turtleneck shirt, a yellow jacket, and gray shorts with black leggings.

Himawari Uzumaki’s Abilities

Even at a young age, Himawari demonstrated an innate gift and remarkable talent for the ways of the kunoichi, much like her older brother. In fact, her untapped power was so formidable that it left her brother terrified and even knocked out her father with a single strike. Her incredible potential did not go unnoticed, as even Daemon showed an eagerness to spar with her, sensing a mysterious and powerful aura emanating from her.

Ninjutsu

Himawari has developed a high level of proficiency in shuriken jutsu by regularly practicing with her older brother, allowing her to effortlessly hit the bullseye. Furthermore, she has demonstrated her dedication to mastering her craft by becoming skilled in essential techniques like the Rope Escape Technique since enrolling in the Academy.

Physical and Chakra Prowess

Himawari possesses an unexpected level of raw power, as demonstrated in the anime when she effortlessly launched a significant amount of scrap metal into the air with a single strike. Her physical prowess is also impressive, as she is capable of jumping great distances with ease and moving so swiftly that even her older brother Boruto struggles to keep up with her.

Aside from her immense strength, Himawari's remarkable agility and athleticism allow her to excel in ninja training courses, often surpassing her peers who have trained for years. Her advanced chakra control is evident in her ability to perform the Tree Climbing Practice flawlessly on her first attempt, despite having no prior training in the technique.

As an Uzumaki, Himawari also possesses a powerful life force, which makes her incredibly resilient and able to endure even the most challenging of situations. Her proficiency in the Gentle Fist technique, which she has honed since joining the Academy, enables her to take on much larger and more experienced opponents with ease, overpowering them at certain points.

Byakugan

Himawari inherited the powerful Byakugan from her Hyūga lineage, and at a young age, she unconsciously awakened it when her beloved toy was torn by her older brother Boruto, demonstrating the strength of her emotions. When her Byakugan is activated, her previously blue eyes transform into the iconic featureless white of the Byakugan and the veins on her temples bulge out. She gains an extraordinary 360-degree field of X-ray vision, with the only exception being a small blind spot at the upper thoracic vertebrae. Additionally, she can see through solid surfaces, perceive chakra pathways, and see across great distances. Despite never having received any formal training, she was able to quickly utilize her abilities to their fullest potential. Initially, Himawari had no conscious control over her Byakugan and could only activate it involuntarily in moments of intense emotional distress. However, by the age of ten, she was able to activate it at will, although she still struggles to maintain it for prolonged periods.

Himawari Uzumaki in Other Media

Himawari plays a significant role in the Naruto series' novels and video games, in addition to the manga and anime adaptations. With the publication of The Last: Naruto the Movie, Himawari makes her literary debut in the novel category.

She also appears in a Naruto movie with the same title as the novel. With Naruto x Boruto: Ninja Voltage, Himawari made her video game debut.

She also debuted in OVA (Original Video Animations) with the release of The Day Naruto Became Hokage.

Did You Know?

  • Himawari's name holds significant meaning as it translates to "sunflower." Interestingly, when the first two kanji characters of her name are reversed, it spells out "Hyūga" (日向), which is the same name as her mother's clan. Plus, it can also be read as Hinata. This unique feature of her name pays tribute to both her mother and the clan she is a part of.

  • Additionally, the "mawari" in Himawari's name is a subtle nod to the spiral motif present in her father's name, Naruto. In Japanese, "mawari" means "rotation.’

  • Initially, Himawari and Boruto were the only descendants of the Hyūga clan who did not possess the Byakugan. However, according to Masashi Kishimoto, he had intended to give them the Byakugan but had forgotten to do so before the release of chapter 700. This was later corrected in the Zai no Sho one-shot where Himawari awakens her Byakugan, essentially fulfilling Kishimoto's original intention.

  • Himawari and her brother are considered legitimate members of the Hyūga clan in addition to being born into the Uzumaki clan, as they have a direct bloodline connection through their mother.
