Charlotte Lola’s History

26 years ago, Lola was born as one of the twin daughters of Charlotte Linlin and Pound, and her sister's name is Chiffon. Right after the twins were born, Linlin expelled their father, and they never got to meet him. Lola grew up and became a chocolatier, and she also held the important position of Minister of Chocolate, overseeing Cacao Island.

At some point, Prince Loki of Elbaf proposed to Lola, and her mother arranged a marriage between them. However, Lola didn't want to marry him, so she decided to leave and find a husband on her own terms. Before leaving, she assured her sister Charlotte Pudding that their mother wouldn't harm her.

Lola and her crew embarked on a journey through the first half of the Grand Line. During their adventures, they passed through Fish-Man Island.

About five years ago, Lola and her crew arrived at Thriller Bark. Unfortunately, the sinister Thriller Bark Pirates promptly stole their shadows, leaving them in a weakened state. Along with other victims, they roamed the forest in search of a way to reclaim their shadows. In the process, they discovered a weakness in the abilities of the Thriller Bark Pirates' leader, Moria, that they could use against him.

Thriller Bark Arc

While all of this was happening, the victims at Thriller Bark had managed to collect purified shadows. After a series of events, Moria tricked Luffy and led him into the forest. Thankfully, Lola's crew, the Risky Brothers, found Luffy and brought him to Lola.

Lola, as usual, tried to propose to Luffy, but he declined her marriage proposal for the 4444th time. Setting aside her romantic plans, Lola and the other victims expressed their gratitude to Luffy and his crew for everything they had done on the island. It was a completely unprecedented situation, and they were thankful for the help they received.

However, they informed Luffy that the trouble wasn't over yet. Moria was now supporting his powerful zombie, Oars, in a fight against the Straw Hats. Determined to assist Luffy in defeating Moria, Lola explained how Moria's powers could be turned against him by inserting a shadow from a skilled Marine into Luffy.

Lola and the other victims handed over all the shadows they had collected, and to everyone's surprise, Luffy absorbed one hundred shadows. With this incredible power, they wished Luffy good luck in giving Moria a "real nightmare."

While Luffy was busy battling Oars and Moria, Lola and most of the Thriller Bark Victim's Association decided to help Brook and the other knocked-out Straw Hats. Nami and Usopp joined them in their efforts. When Luffy unleashed the powerful Gomu Gomu no Storm attack against Oars and Moria, the victims were overjoyed and decided to support Luffy even further.

However, their happiness was short-lived as Oars got back up again. Yet, through the combined strength and teamwork of the Straw Hats and Brook, they managed to defeat Oars by shattering his spine.

After defeating Oars, Lola confronted Moria and demanded that he return all the stolen shadows to their rightful owners, threatening further pummeling by Luffy and his crew if he didn't comply. But Moria remained defiant and absorbed all the shadows, including Lola's, becoming a monstrous lizard-like creature with immense power.

The other victims sought shelter in whatever shade they could find as dawn approached, knowing that exposure to sunlight would be disastrous. However, Lola chose to stay and witness the battle between the Straw Hats and Moria. She felt responsible for dragging them into the victims' problem and wanted to face the situation with them.

Despite the pleas of her crew and the other victims, Lola stood her ground and watched as Luffy fought against the transformed Moria. She was determined not to hide anymore, even if it meant disintegrating in the sunlight.

As Luffy landed powerful blows on Moria, shadows started to spew out from the monstrous form. Lola called out to her shadow, hoping it would come back to her. Inspired by Lola's courage, Luffy also called out to his shadow as he continued to attack Moria.

With a final powerful attack from Luffy, Moria released all the stolen shadows, including Lola's. As dawn finally arrived and sunlight flooded Thriller Bark, Lola's shadow, along with everyone else's, returned to its rightful place just in time.

After getting their shadows back, Lola and the Thriller Bark Victim's Association expressed their gratitude to the Straw Hat crew. Lola even offered to marry any of the male Straw Hats as a gesture of thanks, but her proposal was politely declined.

Their celebrations were interrupted when the Warlord of the Sea, Bartholomew Kuma, appeared and received orders to eliminate everyone on Thriller Bark. Lola and the others tried to fight back, but some of the association members were defeated by Kuma's powerful Devil Fruit abilities.

Zoro stepped up to confront Kuma, and he asked the rest of the victims to stay back. Kuma offered them a chance to live if they surrendered Luffy to the World Government, but Lola and the others refused to betray their savior and responded with a resounding "no." In response, Kuma unleashed a devastating air attack that left almost everyone knocked out.

When they regained consciousness, Lola and the survivors realized that Kuma had left, thinking he had killed them all. They spent a day recovering from the attack and later visited the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hats' ship. Lola recognized Nami faintly through the memories she gained from her shadow and was warmly embraced by her.

Lola then joined the Straw Hats as they returned to the rest of the Thriller Bark Victim's Association. They celebrated together with a feast and music from Brook's piano in the sunlit ruins of Thriller Bark's Mast Mansion.

After two more days of celebration, Franky informed Lola that he had repaired Brook's ship, and they could use it to leave Thriller Bark. Grateful for the Straw Hats' help, Lola asked Franky to marry her, but he kindly declined, saying they weren't a good match.

During the preparations for the Straw Hats' next voyage and the discussion of Fish-Man Island, Nami asked why Lola and her crew knew so much about the place. Lola explained that before they arrived on Thriller Bark, they had journeyed through Fish-Man Island while traveling in the New World.

Learning that Nami was heading to the New World, Lola tore a piece of her mother's Vivre Card and gave it to Nami, explaining how it worked. The Vivre Card would lead Nami to Lola's famous pirate mother and aid her in the New World. Meanwhile, Luffy showed the burnt state of the Vivre Card given to him by Ace, which worried Lola and the others.

Despite the condition of the Vivre Card, Lola and the rest of the Thriller Bark Victim's Association bid a happy farewell to the Straw Hats as they set sail. As they departed, Lola thought she saw something moving in the fog of the Florian Triangle behind Thriller Bark. Regardless, Lola and her companions decided they would never return to such a dark place again.

From the Decks of the World

Two years after leaving the Florian Triangle, Lola, accompanied by the Risky Brothers, paid a visit to Mozu and Kiwi's bar in Water 7.

"Gang" Bege's Oh My Family

Subsequently, Lola was spotted in Dressrosa by a local citizen, a few days before Chiffon and the Fire Tank Pirates arrived on the island. While enjoying a visit to a hair salon, Lola found herself confronted by a group of Marines who swiftly apprehended her. They took her to the port and confined her within a cage, intending to capture her.

Thankfully, Gotti, a loyal member of the Fire Tank Pirates, rushed to her rescue, launching an attack on the Marines to free her from captivity. Overwhelmed with gratitude for Gotti's intervention, Lola expressed her thanks by kissing him.

After her escape, Lola was joyously reunited with her sister, Chiffon. In the midst of their happiness, Lola surprised everyone by asking Gotti to marry her. However, their brief moments of joy were interrupted once again, as the relentless Marines resumed their pursuit of them. This forced Lola, Chiffon, Gotti, and the leader of the Fire Tank Pirates, Bege, to make a swift retreat together.

At the port, a surprise awaited them—Pound, a man who claimed to be their long-lost father, was there. Lola and Chiffon were taken aback by the revelation, unable to believe him immediately. In their skepticism, they chose to leave Dressrosa without accepting him as their father.

As they sailed away, the Marines began attacking Bege's ship with cannon fire. Amidst the chaos, Lola and Chiffon were astonished to see Pound swimming desperately toward them. To convince them of his authenticity, Pound showed them a picture as evidence of their familial connection. Touched by his persistence and determination, Lola, Chiffon, and the Fire Tank Pirates helped him aboard the ship.

And in that heartfelt moment, Lola and Chiffon finally embraced their father, accepting him as part of their lives. In time, Lola and Gotti, deeply in love, tied the knot, and the entire Fire Tank Pirates, along with the Rolling Pirates and Pound, joined in the celebration of their joyous wedding.

Charlotte Lola’s Personality

Lola is a woman on a quest to find true love, but despite her numerous attempts, she has faced rejection 4452 times, with each proposal being turned down. Before encountering the Straw Hat Pirates, she had already proposed 4443 times, and when she met Luffy, she made it 4444 proposals. Undeterred by her many rejections, Lola remained optimistic and resilient, taking each refusal in stride without becoming distraught.

During her adventures, Lola displayed a strong sense of honor and loyalty. When faced with the choice of abandoning the Straw Hat Pirates, who had become a beacon of hope for her crew, she refused to do so, even if it meant putting her own life at risk. This selfless act revealed her true character and unwavering dedication to those she cared about.

Lola's carefree and happy-go-lucky personality made her optimistic and somewhat naive. Despite being the daughter of the fearsome Yonko, Big Mom, she believed that her mother would care for her despite her ruthlessness. This belief led her to trust that Big Mom would help the Straw Hat Pirates when she gave Nami a piece of Linlin's Vivre Card. Lola was unaware of the grudge Big Mom held against her for ruining a potential alliance with the giants, showing her innocence and trusting nature.

Even though she faced challenges and obstacles on her journey, Lola remained true to herself and unwavering in her pursuit of love. Her ability to handle rejection with grace and her unwavering loyalty to her friends made her a lovable and endearing character. Throughout her adventures with the Straw Hat Pirates, Lola's personality and values left a lasting impression, making her an unforgettable member of the One Piece universe.

Charlotte Lola’s Appearance

Lola is a tall and corpulent woman, known for her distinctive appearance. She has short and thin legs, small eyes, and a prominent nose above her large, shiny red lips. One of her notable features is a missing tooth, which adds a unique charm to her smile.

Her head is quite large, and she often wears a small black bowler hat on top of her head. Her pink hair is styled into two braided pigtails, completing her signature look. Following the timeskip, Lola's appearance undergoes some changes.

Her pigtails become longer, and her missing tooth is magically restored. During "Gang" Bege's Oh My Family event, she is seen wearing a hairdressing gown, and her hair is left loose and shorter, giving her a slightly different look.

Lola also shares a striking resemblance to her older twin sister, Charlotte Chiffon, which is a family trait they both possess.

In her younger years, Lola had a slightly different appearance. She was even plumper than she is currently, didn't have a missing tooth, and her hair was styled into a bob. At that time, she wore an orange bow in her hair and donned a peach-colored dress with puffy sleeves, showcasing her youthful and innocent charm.

Charlotte Lola’s Abilities

Despite being outmatched by Gecko Moria, Lola is a clever and resourceful individual. She knew she needed an advantage to stand a chance against Moria's power. So, she secretly came up with a strategy to gain the upper hand.

She also acquired her mother's Vivre Card, which contained powerful soul energy, capable of influencing the homies. It remains a mystery how Lola managed to obtain the Vivre Card since Charlotte Linlin's children were forbidden from having it. But Lola's determination and cunning nature allowed her to obtain this valuable asset.

Before she escaped from Totto Land, Lola held an important position as the Minister of Chocolate, and she had authority over Cacao Island. Her reputation as a famous chocolatier preceded her, and her skill in making chocolates was highly admired, even by Pudding, a talented chocolatier herself. Pudding held Lola's expertise in the highest regard, showcasing the respect and admiration others had for Lola's chocolatier abilities.

Aside from her intellect and chocolatier skills, Lola also showcased her prowess as a swordswoman. She carried two katanas on her back at all times, and her zombie was proficient in swordsmanship as well. This demonstrated that Lola had considerable skill with a blade, making her a formidable opponent even in combat.

Charlotte Lola’s Relationships

Crew

Lola, as a captain, demonstrated excellent leadership skills by ensuring the safety of her crew on Thriller Bark, protecting them from harmful sunlight. The hardships they endured together over the past three years strengthened their bond, making them a close-knit and supportive pirate family.

Family

The exact extent of Lola's relationship with her other siblings, other than Pudding and Chiffon, remains unknown. During a conversation between Big Mom, Luffy, and Nami, the siblings present showed no apparent concern when Big Mom revealed her intense hatred for Lola. In fact, Charlotte Opera was even willing to torture Nami to obtain Lola's location, fully aware of the grim fate that awaited Lola once their mother acquired that information.

Charlotte Linlin

Lola's mother, Charlotte Linlin, also known as "Big Mom," is one of the Four Emperors, a powerful and feared pirate. When Lola ran away from Totto Land to escape a forced marriage with Prince Loki of Elbaf, she believed that her family bond would protect her from her mother's wrath. Lola genuinely cared for her mother, and when she gave the Straw Hats her mother's vivre card, she showed concern and fondness for her. Lola assured the Straw Hats that she would be there to help them if they ever faced trouble.

However, Lola's belief in her mother's love was shattered when she learned the truth. Big Mom lost all affection for Lola, considering her a criminal for ruining the arranged marriage that could have brought peace with the giants and furthered Big Mom's ambitions of becoming the Pirate King.

She declared that if Lola were to return, she would face execution. Big Mom's hatred towards her own daughter was immense, and she was willing to go to extreme lengths, even sending an assassin after Lola to eliminate her.

When Nami mentioned her friendship with Lola to Big Mom, it only fueled the pirate empress's rage. Big Mom's hatred for Lola was so intense that she would fly into a berserker-like rage whenever she saw Lola's image in her twin sister Chiffon, whom she brutally abused as a way to vent her anger towards Lola.

Pound

Pound, Lola's father, held a deep affection for her despite being separated from her after her birth due to Linlin's actions. When Pound managed to escape from Whole Cake Island, he finally had the opportunity to meet Lola for the first time since she was born.

Lola was taken aback by his claim of being her father, as she had never met him before. At first, both Lola and Chiffon were skeptical of his claims and left him behind. However, Pound's unwavering determination to reunite with them convinced them of his sincerity, and they joyfully embraced him, accepting him as their father.

Charlotte Chiffon

Lola and Chiffon share a unique and close bond as full-blooded sisters, and Chiffon considers Lola to be one of the few people she considers true family. Chiffon's participation in the plot against Big Mom is partly driven by her concern for Lola's safety, as she knows that their mother poses a grave threat to her sister.

Chiffon is well aware of Lola's cheerful and naive personality and correctly guessed that Lola is oblivious to their mother's murderous rage directed towards her. Despite facing mistreatment due to Lola's actions, Chiffon never blames her sister and expresses genuine happiness that Lola is doing well.

After successfully escaping from Big Mom's clutches, Chiffon's priority was to reunite with her beloved sister. When they finally found each other in Dressrosa, their reunion was filled with tears of joy and overwhelming emotion.

Charlotte Pudding

Pudding, another sibling, admires Lola for her courage in leaving the family to find her own groom. Pudding even wishes to follow a similar path but is unable to do so due to the constraints imposed on her.

Despite their separation, Lola and Pudding's parting seemed amicable, with Pudding holding Lola in high regard and acknowledging her suitability for the role of Minister of Chocolate.

Gotti

During their time in Dressrosa, Chiffon, a member of the Fire Tank Pirates, went missing. Her crewmate Gotti was determined to find her and bring her back safely. While searching, Gotti mistook a woman for Chiffon and saved her from the Marines. To his surprise, the woman turned out to be Lola, a friend they were also looking for.

When Lola and Chiffon finally reunited, Lola thanked Gotti with a kiss for rescuing her. Gotti developed feelings for Lola as he saw her kindness and spirit. Later, she proposed marriage to him as she had done with many others before. This time, however, Gotti accepted her proposal because he had fallen for her.

Amidst a joyful celebration, Gotti and Lola got married, bringing happiness to both the Fire Tank Pirates and the Rolling Pirates.

Friends

Nami

During the Thriller Bark Arc, Lola formed a unique and sisterly bond with Nami. This unlikely friendship grew primarily because of Nami's interactions with Lola's zombified companion on the mysterious island.

As Nami and the Straw Hat Pirates battled their way through the haunting Thriller Bark, they encountered Lola's zombie, who displayed an affectionate and protective nature towards Nami. The zombie's actions left a strong impression on both Nami and Lola, creating a connection between them that they couldn't fully explain.

When they finally met face to face, Nami instantly recognized Lola as the caring and compassionate woman she had encountered through her zombie. Likewise, Lola also felt a sense of familiarity towards Nami, though she couldn't quite pinpoint why.

In a touching moment of departure from Thriller Bark, Lola referred to Nami as "Namizo," a nickname that Nami had jokingly given to her zombie companion. This further deepened their bond, showing how much they had come to care for each other despite their brief time together.

After leaving Thriller Bark, Nami and Lola continued to strengthen their friendship. Nami, grateful for Lola's help during their time on the island, even shared her treasure with her as a token of appreciation.

Their friendship faced a daunting challenge when Big Mom, a powerful and ruthless Yonko, revealed her intent to kill Lola. Nami was horrified at the thought of losing her newfound friend and refused to disclose Lola's location even when faced with the threat of torture from one of Big Mom's subordinates.

Monkey D. Luffy

Not only did Lola's kindness and sincerity leave a lasting impact on Nami, but she also earned the respect and admiration of Monkey D. Luffy. During the events on Thriller Bark, Lola assisted Luffy in his intense battle against Gecko Moria by empowering him with shadows, a crucial contribution that Luffy deeply appreciated.

When Bartholomew Kuma, a powerful Shichibukai, offered to spare everyone's lives in exchange for handing over Luffy, Lola, along with all her comrades and allies, staunchly refused to betray their friend. Their unwavering loyalty and dedication to protecting Luffy demonstrated the strength of the bonds they had forged during their adventures.

In the face of Big Mom's animosity towards Lola, Luffy passionately defended his friend. He emphasized that Lola had the right to make her own choices and that Big Mom had no one to blame but herself if she felt hurt by Lola's decisions.

Enemy

Gecko Moria

During the events of the Thriller Bark Arc, Lola harbored a deep resentment towards Gecko Moria for stealing her crew's shadows. Instead of fleeing the dangerous island, she chose to stay and fight back. Determined to free the zombies from Moria's control, she used her abilities to purify them and return their stolen shadows.

Other

Loki

As the daughter of the fearsome Yonko, Lola's life took an unexpected turn when she crossed paths with Loki, a prince from a tribe of giants that had a longstanding feud with her mother. Despite the historical enmity between them, Loki couldn't help but be captivated by Lola's charm and warmth. He fell in love with her at first sight and, fueled by his feelings, he swiftly proposed to her.

With political interests at play, a marriage was arranged between Lola and Loki as a means to potentially mend the strained relations between their families. However, despite the honor and significance of the proposal, Lola did not share Loki's romantic sentiments.

Feeling bound by her desire to find true love on her own terms, she made a courageous decision and ran away, seeking a path that would lead her to her heart's desire.
