"Loan Shark" Galdino, also known by his alias Mr. 3, is a former operative of the Baroque Works organization, where he partnered with Miss Goldenweek.

He took on a significant role as the main antagonist during the Little Garden Arc and played a central part in Miss Goldenweek's "Operation: Meet Baroque Works," alongside other Officer Agents of Baroque Works.

Following his imprisonment in Impel Down, Galdino managed to escape, thanks to the assistance of Buggy and Monkey D. Luffy. He became one of Luffy's key allies during the Impel Down Arc and later, during the tumultuous Marineford Arc. After the conclusion of the war, he joined forces with Buggy and Alvida, forming the Buggy and Alvida Alliance.

When Buggy gained the prestigious title of Warlord of the Sea, their alliance transformed into the formidable Underworld organization known as "Buggy's Delivery." Presently, this company has integrated into a larger conglomerate known as Cross Guild, where Galdino continues to be an active member.

Galdino’s History

Galdino had a relatively unknown past. He was the user of the Doru Doru no Mi Devil Fruit, which granted him the power to create and manipulate wax. At some point, he became a member of the criminal organization Baroque Works and served as one of its officer agents.

Little Garden Arc

During his time on Kyuka Island, Mr. 3 was enjoying a vacation break with his partner, Miss Goldenweek. However, Miss Goldenweek complained about being bored, prompting Mr. 3 to tell her to relax and enjoy her break. He also asked her not to refer to him by his codename in public.

Their vacation took an unexpected turn when Miss Goldenweek showed Mr. 3 a piece of paper containing orders from their boss, which they had received a few days earlier. Mr. 3 was infuriated that Miss Goldenweek had not informed him of these new orders. These orders were to search for and deal with the Straw Hat Pirates, particularly those who had defeated Mr. 5.

Subsequently, Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek arrived at Little Garden. They were soon joined by Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine, who entered Mr. 3's wax house on the island. Inside the hideout, Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek were expecting their fellow agents and were casually drinking tea.

Mr. 3 took the opportunity to mock Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine for their previous failure to eliminate Vivi, an incident that put their organization, Baroque Works, in a precarious situation. He offered them a second chance and presented them with a mission: either complete the job successfully or face his wrath.

The mission involved not only dealing with the Straw Hat Pirates but also capturing the two giants on the island, Dorry and Brogy. These giants still had bounties on their heads from a hundred years ago, and capturing them would allow Mr. 3 and his associates to collect a Beli 200,000,000 bounty.

To execute their plan, Mr. 3 ordered Mr. 5 to place a bomb in the rum that Dorry and Monkey D. Luffy were drinking, with the aim of capturing both the giants and the Straw Hat Pirates.

Meanwhile, amidst these unfolding events, Zoro became lost on the island and encountered various illusions created by Mr. 3's wax.

After the rigged duel between Dorry and Brogy concluded with Brogy's victory, Brogy was overjoyed by his supposed triumph. However, Luffy, being aware that the duel had been manipulated, was furious and demanded to know who had sabotaged it. It was at this moment that Mr. 3 revealed himself to Brogy and inquired why the giant was crying.

Brogy, in response, demanded to know the identity of the intruder. Mr. 3 introduced himself with theatrical flair and proudly declared that he had already captured Brogy. To Brogy's surprise, he found himself immobilized by a substance that turned out to be wax.

Meanwhile, at Dorry's camp, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine arrived on the scene, revealing that they had planted a bomb in the rum that Dorry and Luffy had consumed. Additionally, they had captured Karoo with the intention of using him to separate Princess Vivi from Luffy. Enraged by their cruel tactics and lack of morality, Vivi and Usopp attempted to confront Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine but were swiftly defeated.

Back at the duel site, Mr. 3 had successfully defeated Brogy and proclaimed his intention to create a masterpiece out of the giant. He then explained to Brogy how he had assisted him during his battle with Dorry by using explosives. This revelation only fueled Brogy's anger further.

Vivi was subsequently delivered to Mr. 3, and she wasted no time in criticizing him for his underhanded methods and for sabotaging the duel. Undeterred, Mr. 3 began crafting a giant candle, preparing to wax his captives. Brogy, despite being immobilized, mustered the will to resist and attempted to attack Mr. 3. However, he was incapacitated once more, this time by Mr. 5's explosive attack.

Mr. 3 realized that to keep Brogy under control, he needed to exert more force. He immobilized Brogy further by impaling him with wax swords in his hands and feet. He then accelerated the process of his candle technique, explaining that the Straw Hat Pirates would be turned into wax statues, forever preserving the terror on their faces as a morbid work of art.

As Brogy struggled to get up once more, he witnessed Zoro's resolve to cut off his own legs as a last resort to escape. Inspired by Zoro's determination, Brogy made a final attempt to rise. Just when it seemed they might resort to drastic measures, Luffy, Karoo, and Usopp arrived at the scene, vowing to defeat the agents of Baroque Works.

Zoro, in a dramatic display of determination, struck a pose in anticipation of being turned into wax. Miss Goldenweek pointed out to Mr. 3 that the prisoners were not displaying fear, which irked him. Luffy initiated the confrontation by challenging Mr. 3 to a fight. Luffy launched an attack but quickly found himself ensnared in a candle lock by Mr. 3. Luffy cleverly utilized the situation, transforming it into a hammer technique that he used to smash the candle.

However, the destruction of the candle did not halt the waxing process, and Mr. 3 continued his assault. Usopp intervened with an explosive bullet, but it was devoured by Mr. 5. Luffy persisted in his assault, managing to defeat Mr. 3. However, he then strangely became uncooperative as Miss Goldenweek activated her "color trap."

Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine explained that Luffy had fallen under the spell of the "color trap." Vivi managed to trick Luffy into escaping the trap, returning him to normal. However, Luffy immediately fell into another one of Miss Goldenweek's traps, while Nami, Zoro, and Vivi watched in horror as they faced impending doom.

Meanwhile, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine continued to chase Usopp and Karoo, who had managed to free Luffy from his trap. However, Luffy remained unable to combat Miss Goldenweek's abilities. The two duos engaged in a continued battle, with Mr. 5 realizing he was not fast enough to catch Usopp and Karoo.

Usopp eventually headed back to the candle, discovering his friends had been turned into wax statues. He fired at Luffy, destroying his shirt and freeing him from the "color trap" once again. However, Luffy was promptly shot by Mr. 5, which enraged him and led to his declaration that he would defeat them.

Mr. 3 introduced his Candle Champion technique to combat Luffy, and Luffy expressed admiration for it. He engaged Mr. 3 in battle, but the Candle Champion technique proved to be a formidable opponent. Meanwhile, Usopp realized a way to free his friends and attempted to do so. However, his efforts were thwarted by Mr. 5, who bombarded him with attacks.

Usopp gave Karoo a piece of rope and provided him with instructions on how to use it. Unfortunately, Miss Valentine overheard their conversation and began testing Karoo's limits by adding weight. In a daring move, Luffy grabbed Mr. 3's hair and ignited the oil-covered rope on Karoo with the fire from Mr. 3's hair, creating a furnace that melted the wax and freed Zoro, Vivi, Brogy, and Nami from their wax prison.

As Mr. 3 attempted to flee, Luffy chased after him. Meanwhile, the other Baroque Works agents on the island were defeated by various means. Luffy confronted Mr. 3, expressing his anger at him for destroying the giants' prideful battle. In an attempt to escape, Mr. 3 created multiple wax duplicates of himself, but Luffy relied on his instincts to identify the real Mr. 3 and defeated him once and for all.

Back at Mr. 3's wax house, Sanji received a phone call from Mr. 0 (Crocodile) and pretended to be Mr. 3. He informed Mr. 0 that he had killed Vivi and the Straw Hats, which pleased Mr. 0. He instructed Sanji that the Unluckies would arrive at Little Garden shortly to deliver an Eternal Pose to Arabasta.

When the Unluckies did arrive and attacked Sanji, he swiftly defeated them. Sanji then informed Mr. 0 that one of the Straw Hats was still alive but assured him that he had taken care of them. This false report angered Mr. 0, who hung up and instructed Miss All Sunday to send Mr. 2 Bon Kurei to Little Garden to assassinate Mr. 3 for the deception.

Arabasta Arc

After his encounter in Little Garden, Mr. 3 made his way to Arabasta and arrived at Spiders Cafe to meet with his fellow Baroque Works officer agents. Instead of revealing himself immediately, he concealed his presence and secretly hitched a ride behind Banchi's carriage, joining them as they traveled to the Baroque Works hideout.

During the meeting where Crocodile revealed Operation Utopia to the gathered officer agents, Mr. 3 emerged from his hiding place and interrupted the proceedings. Crocodile allowed him to speak, and Mr. 3 admitted to failing in carrying out his orders. He then dropped the bombshell that Vivi and the Straw Hats were still alive.

This revelation angered Crocodile, who questioned Mr. 3 about what he meant. Mr. 3 explained that he had been given incorrect intelligence and requested a second chance to kill them. Before he could continue, Crocodile grabbed him by the neck and drained the moisture from his body. Crocodile then dropped Mr. 3 into a tank of Bananawani, intending for them to feast on him.

Inside the tank, Mr. 3 wondered where he had fallen and noticed the approaching Bananawani. Later, when Sanji kicked one of the Bananawani to retrieve the key to his crew's cage from inside its stomach, Mr. 3 used his wax powers to encapsulate himself in wax while inside the gator's stomach.

This clever move allowed him to survive inside the Bananawani. When Sanji forced him to create a wax key to the cage, Mr. 3 complied, and Sanji then knocked him unconscious. When Crocodile returned and saw Mr. 3's body floating in the water, he believed Mr. 3 had met his end.

However, Mr. 3 managed to escape Crocodile's wrath once again and remained in Arabasta for several more days, laying low and not participating in Operation Utopia. He successfully blended in among the civilians in Rainbase and listened to Vivi's coming-of-age speech over the Den Den Mushi. Ultimately, Mr. 3 was one of the few Officer Agents who avoided exposure and arrest following Baroque Works' defeat.

After returning to Kyuka Island, Galdino found himself pursued by numerous Marines who were hunting down Baroque Works fugitives. The situation took a turn for the worse when "Black Cage" Hina, a Marine Captain, arrived on the scene. Hina, along with a makeshift rescue party consisting of the former Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 5, and Miss Valentine, threatened to execute Miss Valentine unless the remaining fugitives, including Galdino, surrendered.

Galdino, lacking sympathy for his former associates, immediately attempted to flee the island. He prepared his ship for departure, but his escape was halted by another fugitive who had eluded capture: the former Mr. 2.

Out of loyalty and sentimentality toward Mr. 2, Galdino was subdued and his face (as well as his clothing) was borrowed by Mr. 2. Mr. 2 used Galdino's appearance to stage a fake surrender to Hina, which allowed Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 5 to rescue Miss Valentine and most of the imprisoned Officer Agents.

Unfortunately, this gambit led to the arrest of both Mr. 2 and Galdino by the Marines. They were subsequently sent to Impel Down, joining Crocodile and the former Mr. 1 in captivity.

Impel Down Arc

Galdino, now residing in Level 2 of Impel Down, appeared more ragged and disheveled than before his imprisonment. He had seemingly given up hope of ever escaping his confines.

When Luffy and Buggy entered Level 2 and defeated the Basilisk, Buggy decided to release the prisoners in order to incite a riot. Galdino seized this opportunity and joined the freed prisoners. He promised to repay their kindness by helping them reach Level 3.

However, when he learned that Luffy intended to go down to Level 3 instead of up to Level 1, Galdino initially tried to back out of the deal. He changed his mind when he realized that the Level 3 stairwell also led back up to Level 1.

Galdino then conspired with Buggy to ditch Luffy and escape, but their plan was thwarted by a Sphinx that blocked their path to freedom. In an attempt to avoid being crushed by the Sphinx, Galdino created numerous wax copies of himself to confuse the beast. However, this only resulted in the Sphinx destroying the floor beneath them, sending Galdino, Buggy, Luffy, and the Sphinx plummeting down to Level 3.

In Level 3, known as the "Starvation Hell," the extreme heat from Level 4 above made it difficult for prisoners to endure, and they were subjected to starvation as well. Before they could make any progress, they were ensnared in a Seastone-reinforced net.

The guard and commander of the Blue Gorillas, Saldeath, claimed there was no escape. However, the Sphinx, also caught in the net, managed to break free, releasing Galdino, Buggy, and Luffy.

Galdino and Buggy initially decided to ditch Luffy and make their escape from Impel Down. However, even though they planned to leave him behind, Luffy thanked them for their assistance.

While searching for a way out, Galdino and Buggy encountered Bentham's cell. Galdino, feeling embarrassed, suggested that they should not release him.

Later on, Galdino and Buggy found themselves in Level 2 after Minotaurus landed on top of them due to Luffy's actions. They were chased by Minotaurus down to Level 3, where they eventually reunited with Luffy and Bentham. Together, they defeated Minotaurus, with Galdino using his Devil Fruit powers to help Luffy land the final blow.

As they continued their journey through Impel Down, they realized they were falling toward the boiling point of Level 4. Fortunately, they managed to jump to safety.

When Luffy was confronted by Magellan, Galdino, Buggy, and Bentham decided to make their way back to Level 3 to take down Hannyabal, the chief guard there. They assumed Hannyabal would be weak since he didn't possess a Devil Fruit power, and Buggy's Muggy Balls would give them an advantage. Their plan, however, failed as Hannyabal easily defeated them.

They were saved by Bentham, who was disguised as Hannyabal, and he informed them that they needed to rescue Luffy, who had been defeated by Magellan and taken to Level 5, the Freezing Hell. Galdino, along with Buggy and Bentham, proceeded to travel down to Level 5 in pursuit of Luffy.

In Level 5.5, Galdino, Buggy, and Bentham faced the shocking revelation that all prisoners and the supposed Hannyabal were required to discard their cloaks, exposing their true appearances. Upon entering, they found themselves confronted by the Wolf Unit, who were intent on devouring them. In the face of this danger, Bentham sprinted away in terror, with Buggy following suit.

Later, Galdino and Buggy were shown hiding on Level 2, with Galdino using his Doru Doru powers to create wax keys and free prisoners. Their goal was to cause a distraction that would enable them to leave the level.

Unfortunately, their actions drew the attention of Magellan, who arrived on Level 2 and killed many of the rioting prisoners. Magellan also sealed off all entrances and exits to the level, causing Galdino to become increasingly concerned.

Fortunately, Blackbeard, who had become one of the Warlords of the Sea, reopened the level, providing an opportunity for Galdino and the rioters to escape to Level 1. However, before they could make their exit from Level 1, they were attacked by the revived Jailer Beasts.

Thanks to the timely arrival of Luffy, Jinbe, and Crocodile's group, the Jailer Beasts were quickly subdued once again. When Magellan arrived on the scene, intent on killing the group, Galdino surprised everyone by using his Candle Wall to block Magellan's Hydra attack. He urged Luffy and the others to escape, declaring that he didn't want to remain in debt to Luffy any longer.

As it became evident that Galdino couldn't actually defeat Magellan, he formulated a plan to escape. However, Luffy, demonstrating his determination and loyalty, chose to stay behind and support Galdino. Recognizing the defensive capabilities of Galdino's wax against Magellan's poison, Luffy requested a set of wax boxing gloves and boots, which he used to injure Magellan.

Galdino continued to hold his ground against Magellan by creating wax barricades around some cannons. However, they were eventually forced to flee from Magellan's formidable poison golem.

Galdino managed to escape from Impel Down and make it onto the group's escape ship. Once aboard, he collapsed in exhaustion, giving thanks for their miraculous escape.

When Bentham, in a selfless act, sacrificed himself to enable the others' escape, Galdino was visibly shocked and deeply affected. He was later seen shedding tears over Bentham's sacrifice and admitted that he no longer harbored any hard feelings towards him. Bentham's noble sacrifice had a profound impact on Galdino, leading to a change in their relationship.

Marineford Arc

After the Marines revealed Buggy's supposed connection to the Pirate King's crew and his friendship with Shanks, Galdino couldn't help but wonder why Buggy acted so cowardly if those claims were true.

As Luffy and the others reached the Gates of Justice during the Marineford War, Galdino displayed great excitement.

He, along with other Impel Down fugitives, descended from the sky onto Marineford to support Luffy in his mission to rescue Ace. Galdino wore a cloak and black pants over his original prisoner's striped shirt, and he appeared quite hysterical.

When Buggy tried to conceal his shock at Kizaru's laser attack (with most prisoners believing his act), Galdino exclaimed that they were so hopeful that they were half-deaf.

When Sengoku announced that Luffy's father was Dragon the Revolutionary, Galdino stood behind Buggy, both of them visibly shocked. He then followed Buggy and his group as Buggy initiated his plan and was among those who panicked when Buggy was caught in Crocodile's sandstorm.

During the intense battle at Marineford, Galdino took on the disguise of an executioner and managed to get close to Ace's execution platform. He was prepared to free Ace, seeking to avenge Bentham's sacrifice. However, his plans were thwarted when Sengoku suddenly ordered Ace's immediate execution. Galdino pretended to carry out the execution, but he was knocked out by Luffy's Conqueror Haki.

Galdino regained consciousness just as Luffy reached the execution ground. He used his Candle Wall to shield Ace from Sengoku's attack. When Kizaru destroyed Luffy's key, Galdino used his Devil Fruit powers to create a new key, allowing Ace to break free from his chains in midair.

He asked Luffy if his motivation for helping to free Ace was to honor a comrade's (Bentham) final wishes, to which Luffy replied with a resounding "no." The execution scaffold was destroyed during this rescue.

After Ace saves both Galdino and Luffy from the flames caused by the scaffold's destruction, Galdino finds himself being dragged away by pirates. He expressed relief that he had escaped the Marines' notice. Marco, who aimed to support his allies under attack by Akainu, ordered Galdino to unlock his handcuffs using his Devil Fruit powers. Later, Marco was seen engaging in battle with Akainu.

Post-War Arc

Galdino was seen joining the Buggy and Alvida Alliance on an island in the Grand Line. He was last seen reading a mysterious message from the World Government for Buggy, which left him in disbelief. Later, it was revealed that the message was an invitation for Buggy to become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

During the Timeskip

Following Buggy's appointment as a Seven Warlord, Galdino became a member of Buggy's Delivery. It is assumed that he, along with other Impel Down escapees who joined Buggy, received pardons due to Buggy's new Warlord status.

After Buggy became a Seven Warlords member, the Buggy Pirates stumbled upon a fight between Luffy, Boa Hancock, and Sebastian of the World Pirates. Galdino let Buggy know that the World Pirates caused the Warlords' gathering. So, Buggy and Galdino planned to take the credit if Luffy beat World. Galdino worried at first but then agreed to Buggy's idea to tell the Marines and run if things got bad.

When Perona beat Sebastian, Galdino and Buggy were surprised to see her with Mihawk. They thought Mihawk could help, but worried he'd steal their credit. Galdino wanted to make sure others saw their role in the fight.

On their ship, they saw Luffy fight Byrnndi World. Galdino was surprised Luffy lost easily and asked Buggy what was next. Buggy ordered his crew to revive Luffy, but they thought Buggy was being friendly. Galdino couldn't believe how hopeful they were about Buggy. After Luffy woke up, Galdino pointed him towards World, and he was amazed by the crew admiring Buggy for waking up Luffy.

Later, they met Gairam on the ship, and Galdino felt Gairam wasn't friendly. Gairam attacked with Cube Booster. When Buggy told Luffy to fight World, the crew thought Buggy was cheering him on, which Galdino found hard to believe.

When Buggy said he'd handle Gairam, Galdino asked how. But then, Gairam attacked with Air Cube Booster. Galdino used his Candle Wall to block it and told the crew to run. Gairam hit the wall, sending Galdino flying.

During Buggy's fight with Gairam, Buggy couldn't put himself back together. Galdino asked what to do. Buggy said he had a trick, not the Buggy Ball but the Muggy Ball. Hancock defeated Gairam in the smoke from the Muggy Ball. Galdino and Buggy told her where Luffy went. The crew thought Buggy beat Gairam, and he happily took the credit.

Outside, they saw Marine ships. Galdino reminded Buggy he called the Marines. The Marines didn't know Buggy was there and fired. Galdino rode on Buggy's back to escape the cannons, and the crew went back to their ship.

Zou Arc

Galdino reappeared after the timeskip on Karai Bari Island as part of Buggy's Delivery crew. He was sitting behind Buggy during a feast with Mohji, Richie, Cabaji, and Alvida.

They were celebrating the defeat of Donquixote Doflamingo and how it boosted their business. Mohji also shared the news that the New Giant Warrior Pirates had left their delivery company to join the Straw Hat Pirates instead.

Galdino, along with the other members of the Buggy Pirates, attended the Pirates Festival on Delta Island. He joined Buggy and Alvida in their search for Gol D. Roger's treasure on the island.

Wano Country Arc

Following the dissolution of the Warlord system, the Marine fleet, under the command of Stainless, confronted those on Karai Bari Island. To deal with this threat, Crocodile assembled his own force and set out to destroy the Marine ships. His goal was to recruit Buggy and Buggy's Delivery into his new organization, the Cross Guild.

Galdino’s Personality

Galdino views himself as highly intelligent and strategic, which is partly true as Crocodile acknowledged his intellect when assigning him a higher rank. He takes pride in his wax-based artistic abilities, turning his victims into "living statues" for his partner Miss Goldenweek to paint on.

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

However, when faced with life-threatening situations, he tends to reveal his cowardly nature and a fear of direct combat. He prefers to incapacitate opponents by trapping their body parts with his Devil Fruit abilities rather than engaging in physical fights.

Despite his sadistic tendencies to turn people into sculptures, he enjoys a prolonged and painful process rather than a quick death. However, during his time in Impel Down, he underwent unexpected changes. He risked his life to save Luffy by blocking a torrent of deadly poison, showing a willingness to repay his debt to the Straw Hat captain.

Additionally, he admitted that he might start seeing Luffy as a friend if he's not careful. After Bentham sacrificed himself to save the escapees, Galdino expressed genuine sadness and acknowledged that Bentham wasn't all that bad. This change in attitude led him to attempt to free Ace and avenge his fallen comrade, showing his willingness to risk his life for a noble cause.

Galdino also has a distinctive speech style, often ending his sentences with "gane."

Galdino’s Appearance

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

When Galdino was first introduced, he had an average build and wore glasses. His Baroque Works agent number, "3," was displayed on his clothing and glasses. His hair could change shapes humorously based on his emotions or situations. After his time in Impel Down, he wore a prisoner's outfit, with his hair becoming untidy and growing a beard.

During his attempts to save Ace, Galdino disguised himself as an executioner and appeared more muscular. After the war, he trimmed his hair and changed into an orange button-collar shirt and brown pants.

When using his "Candle Champion" technique, he transforms into a larger form. This suit can be colored using Miss Goldenweek's painting abilities, as seen during the Little Garden Arc.

After the timeskip, Galdino has grown a full mustache and sports a white shirt with suspenders and a red bowtie. Overall, his appearance hasn't changed significantly.

Galdino’s Abilities

Before the downfall of Baroque Works, Mr. 3 held a high-ranking position within the organization and likely had control over numerous lower-ranking members known as Billions. He was considered one of the top agents.

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

Galdino possesses exceptional artistic skills, allowing him to recreate the intricate details of a human figure based solely on his visual perception.

Crocodile, the leader of Baroque Works, assigned Mr. 3 the position of "Mr. 3" primarily because Mr. 4, another agent, lacked the mental acuity for the role. Otherwise, Mr. 3 would have been ranked lower. While imprisoned in Impel Down, Mr. 3's lack of combat resolve became evident through his actions.

He displayed cowardice on several occasions and supported Buggy's escape strategy over Luffy's riskier approach. Although he briefly exhibited bravery when confronted by Magellan during their escape attempt, it was short-lived.

Despite his timidity, Mr. 3 shows proficiency in stealth and infiltration techniques.

Master Tactician

Galdino's strategic intelligence stands out as his most remarkable attribute. He excels in using his cleverness to outwit opponents, preferring cunning tactics over direct confrontation. An example of this is how he exploited the never-ending battle between giants Dorry and Brogy to profit from their rivalry and claim a bounty of 100,000,000 Beli without having to engage in physical combat himself.

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

Galdino possesses a keen sense of observation and a strong instinct for detecting danger. This quality was evident when he found himself in Impel Down's Level 4 along with Buggy, Bentham, and Luffy. He noticed several unusual signs, such as the guards organizing themselves in formations, the absence of anyone tending to the fires, and prisoners not attempting to escape.

These observations led him to suspect that something was amiss and potentially dangerous. He cautioned Buggy against blindly following Bentham and Luffy to the kitchen, fearing it might be a trap, and instead urged Buggy to check the exits. His suspicions proved valid when Warden Magellan appeared to restore order to the prison and capture Luffy.

During their collaboration, Galdino and Buggy managed to bypass many of Impel Down's surveillance systems after leaving Bentham in Level 5.

In the Marineford Arc, Galdino's cleverness was further showcased when he successfully avoided Aokiji's freezing powers by substituting himself with one of his wax statues without the admiral noticing. He later excelled at impersonating one of Ace's executioners during his covert attempt to free the 2nd Division Commander.

Devil Fruit

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

Galdino consumed the Doru Doru no Mi, a type of Paramecia-class Devil Fruit. This fruit grants him the power to generate and manipulate candle wax. His control over this wax is quite versatile: he can shape it into various forms, switch between solid and liquid states, and guide its movement in both forms.

The solidified wax is known to possess a strength comparable to steel. Interestingly, he can also produce flames from his hair while employing his abilities, resembling a "Candle Man."

He skillfully crafts weapons, tools, and other items from the wax, allowing him to engage in combat and perform various tasks. He can create wax swords and spears to attack foes, immobilize opponents by encasing them in hardening wax upon contact, and create defensive barriers and wax duplicates.

Additionally, he can construct a wax mech suit for himself and build structures that serve as protective shelters for his allies. Galdino can even forge wax keys to unlock restraints and cages.

One remarkable attribute of Galdino's wax power is its resistance to poisons and digestive acids. He employed this capability to shield himself and fellow prisoners in Impel Down from the toxic effects of Magellan's poison. Crocodile also utilized Galdino's wax to feed a giant alligator without harm.

However, Galdino's wax can be rapidly melted by exposure to high temperatures and flames, limiting its effectiveness in certain situations.

Ship

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

Mr. 3 had a personal ship during his tenure with Baroque Works. This vessel served various purposes, including discreetly arriving in Arabasta and evading the vigilance of Mr. 2 Bon Kurei. It is a small boat featuring the number "3" as a figurehead and bearing the Baroque Works Jolly Roger as its flag.

Nefertari Vivi mentioned that the ship operates through the utilization of Mr. 3's Doru Doru no Mi powers, although the precise mechanics behind this remain unexplained. It is assumed to function similarly to Smoker's Billower Bike, where Mr. 3's wax powers are likely used to rotate paddles or propel the ship in some manner.

This ship made its first appearance in Chapter 158 and Episode 93 of the One Piece series. It was also featured in the Baroque Works Mini-Series. However, what became of the ship after Mr. 3's arrest and subsequent imprisonment in Impel Down remains unknown. It is improbable that he continues to use it, as he is currently aboard the Big Top.

Galdino’s Relationships

Baroque Works

Galdino in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

Mr. 3's interactions with his partner, Miss Goldenweek, followed the typical dynamic of Baroque Works pairs. He highly valued her painting skills, which were essential to his abilities, but he occasionally became frustrated when she unintentionally revealed information too easily. She also painted his wax sculptures for him.

Mr. 3 held a rather low opinion of those ranked beneath him in the organization. He openly expressed his disappointment upon learning of Mr. 5's defeat in Whisky Peak, regarding him as foolish for relying too heavily on his Devil Fruit power and lacking tact. He wished for the downfall of both subordinates and superiors to secure promotions for himself, often making him antagonistic towards other Officer Agents.

While Mr. 3 was initially loyal to Crocodile, he developed a deep fear of him after Crocodile attempted to feed him to the Bananawani. As a result, merely seeing Crocodile filled him with terror. However, after the time skip, when Crocodile formed the Cross Guild, Galdino was overjoyed to work for him again, although some fear remained.

His perception of Mr. 2 Bon Kurei evolved over time. Initially, Mr. 3 considered him an idiotic nuisance. However, Mr. 2's actions in Impel Down deeply touched Mr. 3. He believed that Mr. 2's actions during the Marineford War helped avenge, in his words, his "fallen friend."

Buggy

Galdino and Buggy formed an alliance in Impel Down as they both sought to escape the Great Prison and shared a common hatred for Luffy. During their time together, they developed a friendship, although their attempts to escape the prison on their own often failed. It was Luffy's assistance that ultimately led to their successful breakout.

In their partnership, Galdino often played the more cautious role, frequently warning Buggy about the dangers they faced during their escape. In the anime, he took steps to protect both himself and Buggy by using his wax powers to create useful tools.

After the escape, Galdino was surprised to learn about Buggy's past as a member of the Roger Pirates and his friendship with Shanks, which seemed contradictory to Buggy's cowardly nature. As Buggy gained loyal followers, Galdino remained one of the few who could see through Buggy's facade of bravery, wondering how long Buggy could maintain it.

Following the Summit War of Marineford, Galdino joined Buggy's crew along with other escaped Impel Down inmates. While his exact position within the crew is unclear, he is considered one of the high-ranking members due to his friendship with Buggy. He is seen dining with other high-ranking crew members like Mohji, Richie, Cabaji, and Alvida.

It is assumed that Galdino was pardoned, like the other Impel Down escapees who joined Buggy's crew, due to Buggy becoming a Warlord of the Sea. However, he maintained that he never officially joined Buggy's crew and expressed a willingness to work for his original boss, even taunting Buggy about it.

Monkey D. Luffy

Mr. 3, initially antagonistic towards Luffy, first encountered him when he ambushed Dorry, a giant and Luffy's new friend. This action almost led to Dorry's death. Mr. 3 ridiculed Luffy's instinct-driven approach but was ultimately defeated by Luffy's instincts.

Their paths crossed again in Impel Down, where Galdino appeared to forgive Luffy for their previous conflicts. In the beginning, Galdino displayed cowardice within the prison's walls, but witnessing Luffy's determination inspired him to take a more active role in freeing the prisoners. Together, they played a crucial role in holding off Magellan long enough for other escapees to secure a ship.

Galdino was shocked to learn about Luffy's heritage but played a pivotal role in helping Luffy free his brother during the Summit War of Marineford. When Luffy's key was destroyed by Kizaru, Galdino used his wax powers to craft a new key, ultimately freeing Ace from his shackles. This act strengthened their bond and mutual respect.
