Vegapunk’s Background

Vegapunk, born 65 years ago on Karakuri Island in the Future Country Baldimore, showed an early aptitude for invention, creating devices and robotic animals as a child. One of his ideas aimed to help the island's people with an in-ground heating system, but it remained incomplete due to a lack of tools and funds. Despite this, Vegapunk's efforts touched the hearts of the people.

At some point, Vegapunk consumed the Nomi Nomi no Mi, causing his brain and head to continuously expand with new knowledge.

Later, Vegapunk led the illegal research team MADS, working alongside scientists like Vinsmoke Judge, Caesar Clown, Queen, and Buckingham Stussy. While others focused on weapons, Vegapunk pursued peace-promoting products, earning recognition like the Ibel Peace Prize for GP Flowers. Invited to Mary Geoise by the Five Elders, Vegapunk also discovered the Lineage Factor.

After the World Government deemed Lineage Factor research a threat, MADS disbanded, but Vegapunk and most scientists continued working for the government.

After joining the World Government, Vegapunk gained fame for his Devil Fruit research and the revelation that Seastone can counteract Devil Fruit effects. During a visit to Mary Geoise with his Satellites, Vegapunk and most of his team disapproved of the World Nobles' cruelty. However, one Satellite named York secretly desired to become a Celestial Dragon, even if it meant betraying her peers.

Around 33 years ago, when Kaido was captured, Vegapunk extracted a sample of his Lineage Factor to replicate the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu Devil Fruit. The results were unsatisfactory, and the World Government wanted the fruit, but Vegapunk considered it a failure and left it on Punk Hazard. Kaido later escaped Vegapunk's facility with Alber.

Vegapunk also became acquainted with Borsalino and, during a trip to handle a bear attack, met Sentomaru, a boy seeking employment. Impressed by Sentomaru's strength, Vegapunk hired him as his personal bodyguard. Additionally, Borsalino allowed Vegapunk to study the Pika Pika no Mi for a future project.

22 years ago, a few months after the Ohara Incident, Vegapunk visited Ohara to honor the late Professor Clover. He found the lake filled with books and was moved to tears, realizing it was the scholars' final stand. Giants from Elbaf were retrieving the books, and Monkey D. Dragon, also paying respects, discussed Vegapunk's refusal to join the Freedom Fighters. Vegapunk, valuing his work with the World Government, feared repercussions for taking the books but entrusted them to the giants. Later, he secretly visited Elbaf to read the rescued books and met Jaguar D. Saul, who led the giants in salvaging the library.

Four years before the current storyline, Vegapunk led chemical weapons tests on Punk Hazard. Caesar Clown, his former colleague, created a potent weapon. When Vegapunk tried to dismiss Caesar for recklessness, Caesar detonated the weapon, turning Punk Hazard into a wasteland. The island was closed off, and Vegapunk, blamed for the incident, abandoned the dragon he had created.

After being transferred to a new facility on Egghead, Vegapunk, still employed by the World Government, encountered Bartholomew Kuma, who sought a cure for his daughter Jewelry Bonney's Sapphire Scales disease. Vegapunk agreed to perform a stem cell transplant for Bonney's cure.

During the procedure, Vegapunk discovered Kuma's identity as a Buccaneer, and despite having insufficient blood samples to determine his heritage, Vegapunk offered to waive Bonney's expenses if he could clone Kuma. Kuma accepted the offer, leading to the creation of the Pacifista human weapons.

While working with Kuma, Vegapunk was visited by Admiral Borsalino (Kizaru), causing Vegapunk unease. Kizaru assured Vegapunk that he was just doing his job. Vegapunk's dealings with Kuma and the Pacifista project were strained, and Kuma's agreement to become a Warlord of the Sea, a human weapon, and have his memories erased for control deeply disturbed Vegapunk. Despite his objections, Kuma accepted these conditions to save Bonney, leaving Vegapunk in tears and Kizaru conflicted.

Saturn inquired about the duration of the Sapphire Scales cure for Bonney, and Vegapunk estimated it would take up to six months and another year before she could go outside. Saturn decided to make Bonney a hostage, placing her under government watch until Kuma's free will was completely erased.

Vegapunk objected, expressing concern that Kuma and Bonney would be separated forever. Saturn dismissed these concerns, threatening to turn Bonney into a slave if the order was violated.

Over the months, Vegapunk developed a close relationship with Kuma and Bonney, sharing meals and celebrations with them, Kizaru, and Sentomaru. Six months later, Vegapunk happily informed Bonney that she would soon be able to go outside, expressing gratitude for their time together.

About a year later, Vegapunk underwent a surgical procedure, removing his large head and storing his brain in Punk Records. He replaced the top of his head with an apple top head.

During Kuma's modifications, Stussy commented on Vegapunk's brain removal, questioning the fate of a human without free will. Vegapunk assured Kuma that he would retain a minimal level of consciousness for at least one more year.

After the Enies Lobby incident, Vegapunk discussed the successful Pacifistas augmentation with Kuma on Egghead Island. Kuma revealed that the boy who declared war on the World Government was Dragon's son. Vegapunk, surprised by this revelation, engages in a conversation with Kuma about the similarities between Luffy's powers and Nika's. During this time, Vegapunk enlisted Kuma's help in researching memories using the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi's ability to make them tangible.

Vegapunk replicated Kizaru's Devil Fruit powers, manufacturing functional and tangible laser beams, making him the only person with this technological prowess. His attempts to replicate Paramecia Devil Fruits resulted in the creation of Green Blood. Before the Summit War of Marineford, when Vegapunk prepared for the final operation on Kuma, he argued with Saturn about implanting a self-destruct switch on Kuma.

Vegapunk attempted to reason with Saturn to allow a minimal level of consciousness for Kuma, but the elder refused. Kuma, overhearing this, completed his original agreement with Vegapunk to create a copy of his memories using the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi's ability to study.

Vegapunk tearfully proceeded with the operation to remove the last of Kuma's free will, with various doctors and Sentomaru praying for him. At Kuma's request, Vegapunk programmed the mission to protect the Thousand Sunny into Kuma's memory banks.

Three months before the Egghead Incident, CP5 probed Vegapunk for delving into Void Century research. Just before the Levely, Admiral Fujitora met Vegapunk, who unveiled the Seraphim—a product of Vegapunk's exploration of cloning, cyborgs, Devil Fruits, and Lunarians.

Egghead Arc

While working on a warping experiment, Vegapunk got stuck inside a robot's armor. Luffy came to help, and Vegapunk recognized him as Dragon's son. Bonney confronted Vegapunk, angry about her father being turned into a cyborg. Vegapunk explained his background, the creation of satellites, and his goal of a universal database.

Bonney demanded answers, threatening him with a lightsaber, but it attracted insects, causing her to pass out. Vegapunk admitted he understood her resentment but had something to give her.

Vegapunk shared his ultimate goal of providing free energy worldwide, aiming to eliminate a major cause of wars. He explained his pursuit of ancient energy, linked to the Iron Giant's movements. Aware that the Government wanted him dead, he asked Monkey D. Luffy to take him and Bonney out to sea. After Luffy agreed, Vegapunk vanished, warping to the Labophase.

In the Labophase's Observation Room, Vegapunk marveled at Luffy's Gear 5 transformation. He revealed that Luffy's fruit, the Gomu Gomu no Mi, wasn't recorded in any Devil Fruit book. Vegapunk explained the ancient god Nika, associated with liberation and smiles. He shared a theory about Devil Fruits representing human desires for evolution and different dimensions dreamed up by predecessors. Devil Fruit users' inability to swim was linked to the Sea, the mother of nature, loathing their unnatural status.

Vegapunk clarified that Senor Pink was alive and in Impel Down. He explained his ability to replicate Devil Fruits, focusing on Zoan types. Distancing himself from Caesar's SMILE fruits, Vegapunk outlined his process, expressing the potential to replicate special Zoan fruits with enough resources. Logia Devil Fruits proved too complex, but he found an alternative method for Paramecia ones, creating "Green Blood" from a user's Lineage Factor. The Seraphim, like S-Bear, S-Snake, and S-Shark, possessed these abilities, making them, in Vegapunk's view, "The Strongest Form of Humanity."

Later, Bonney demanded Vegapunk reverse Kuma's Pacifista modifications. Vegapunk revealed the process was irreversible but had a reason. Bonney used her powers to attack Vegapunk, turning him into a child. When she asked why Vegapunk took Kuma's personality, he couldn't reveal the reason as he promised Kuma not to disclose it. Bonney, unconvinced, found a concealed room in the lab, breaking it open to uncover more secrets.

Bonney discovered a paw-shaped bubble in Vegapunk's lab, triggering a flashback of Vegapunk discussing the weight of the soul and memory theory with Kuma. Vegapunk asked Kuma to aid in an experiment, using his powers to make memories tangible. Kuma agreed, resulting in the paw-shaped bubble. Vegapunk warned Bonney not to touch it as it contained Kuma's stored memory.

Bonney dismissed the warning, accessed the memories, and learned the truth about Kuma's situation. She hugged Vegapunk, apologized, and received a sapphire necklace, her tenth birthday present from Kuma. They discussed Luffy being Dragon's son, and Vegapunk apologized, mentioning that Saturn was the real enemy.

Vegapunk was abducted and imprisoned in the Labophase along with Cipher Pol agents. He confessed to not knowing they were imprisoned for so long and realized it was connected to his research on Poneglyphs.

Shaka found Vegapunk, but York shot Shaka. Vegapunk, furious, asked if York imprisoned the agents, and she revealed her desire to become a World Noble. Vegapunk questioned her motives, but York expressed her belief that the world only needed one Vegapunk.

Vegapunk was freed from captivity and reunited with the Straw Hats in the Labophase. He learned about York's goals and assured the Cipher Pol agents of the Seraphim's containment. Vegapunk, impressed by S-Snake's loyalty to Luffy, planned an escape to Elbaf.

He intended to use the Vegaforce-01, with Lilith as the pilot, to fly the Thousand Sunny over the Marine blockade. Franky suggested a Coup de Burst, surprising Vegapunk with cola as the fuel source. As York had set a password on the Frontier Dome, Vegapunk, Edison, and Atlas worked on cracking the code.

While working on cracking the code, Vegapunk learned that the Marines, led by Kizaru, were assaulting the island. Confused by the breach in defenses, he expressed concern for Sentomaru, who was facing Kizaru. Upon Sentomaru's defeat, Vegapunk, in tears, urged him to flee if needed.

Despite the chaos, Vegapunk remained determined to bring down the barrier. As Kizaru arrived in the Labophase, Rob Lucci attempted to kill Vegapunk, but Stussy intervened and took the attack, saving Vegapunk's life.

After Stussy sacrificed herself to disable the Frontier Dome's defense system, Vegapunk celebrated the success with Atlas and Edison. He then contacted Franky to check on the Vegaforce-01, unaware it had been destroyed by Kizaru. To everyone's horror, Kizaru appeared in the Control Room, surprising Vegapunk.

However, a giant Luffy intervened, grabbing Kizaru. Despite the chaos, Vegapunk expressed his determination to save Bonney and left the Control Room with Atlas in the Vegatank-08, reaching out to Franky and Sanji for assistance. Vegapunk emphasized that he wouldn't leave Bonney to die.

Vegapunk, along with Sanji and the others, successfully rescued Bonney. However, their joy was short-lived as Jaygarcia Saturn arrived, causing Kizaru to destroy the clouds they were riding on.

The Vegatank-08 crashed, leaving Vegapunk's group cornered by Saturn. Despite their attempts to rescue Bonney, they found themselves immobilized, likely due to Saturn's Devil Fruit ability. As the Marines prepared to execute Bonney, Vegapunk, unable to move, grew furious with Saturn for causing the Sapphire Scales disease that affected Kuma's family.

Saturn, however, dismissed these feelings, claiming he didn't care about the emotions of "insects." The situation took a surprising turn when a Marine reported that Kuma himself had arrived on the island, leaving Vegapunk shocked and curious about his presence.

Vegapunk’s Personality

Vegapunk is a mix of good and not-so-good qualities. When he was young, he was nice to people on his island, helping them with his inventions. They liked him a lot. But as he grew up, he became more complicated.

On the good side, he has strong morals and cares about doing the right thing as a scientist. He refuses to use kids in his experiments and says no to making harmful weapons. He doesn't like doing bad stuff in the name of science.

Vegapunk also has a kind side. He honored Kuma's last wish, making sure he could protect something important until his friends returned.

But there's a flip side. He can be a bit mean, especially when people can't copy his inventions properly. He also tends to steal things to fund his research. Despite that, when things get tough, he knows how to ask for help.

He's also a smart and wise person. He dreams of using his inventions to help everyone globally, making the world a better place and stopping fights.

Sometimes, though, he gets upset and shows his feelings. He cried when he had to follow orders he didn't like. He also stood against doing something really harsh Kuma.

Vegapunk loves science and making inventions. He worked hard on creating dragons and artificial Devil Fruits. He's a bit of a perfectionist, getting upset when things don't turn out exactly right. Once, he even cried when the devil fruit he made coping Kaido’s Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu. wasn't the perfect color.

He takes his work seriously and doesn't like it when people, like Luffy, don't appreciate or understand what he's doing. This shows that he's proud of his inventions and wants others to recognize them.

As a scientist, Vegapunk is curious about theories and ideas. He even tested a theory about the weight of the soul, experimenting to see if it was true. He likes to explore unusual ideas and involves others, like Bartholomew Kuma, in his experiments.

He knows that his research can be dangerous. The things he's uncovered about the past make the government see him as a threat. But he keeps going because he feels it's his duty to find out the truth.

Vegapunk’s Appearance

Vegapunk is an old man. He is very tall. Before he cut out a part of his brain, he was even taller, almost giant-sized. Due to his enlarged brain, his head looks funny – like the top of an apple core with a long shaft. He has a big forehead, a long tongue, and eyes close to his potato nose. He's bald on top but has spiky white hair on the sides and a thick mustache.

He wears a short white coat with "SSG" on the back, a pink shirt with red dots, purple pants, and purple shoes.

When he was younger at 43, Vegapunk had a huge head with dark hair covering most of it. He wore a leather jacket, a light shirt, a belt, dark pants, and dress shoes.

Three years ago, Vegapunk made Punk Records and shrunk his head by taking out a part of his brain.

In the past with MADS, his head was smaller, had a bandage on one side, and no mustache. He wore a Hawaiian shirt and goggles.

In certain situations, like when Kuma explained Pacifista modification, Vegapunk wore yellow gloves, and a striped shirt under a lab coat.

Vegapunk’s Abilities

Vegapunk is renowned for being the most genius individual in the entire series. His already genius mind has contributed a lot of inventions to the world, and his intelligence is great enough to have produced inventions that are considered to be 500 years ahead of time.

The scientist appears to have been already considered a genius in his childhood but lacked the skills, funding, and resources to develop his discoveries. However, this did not prevent him from theorizing the construction of Pacifista cyborgs, including their laser guns back then.

This is demonstrated by Franky’s ability to duplicate the technology by self-studying the blueprints left behind by Vegapunk on his home island. Regardless, the creations and designs he has left behind are regarded as priceless, and any damage done to them is a crime. He has read and memorized every single book that was saved from Ohara.

Vegapunk also discovered how Devil Fruit powers are transferred to a person and was the scientist behind the method of imbuing inanimate objects with Devil Fruit powers, such as swords and firearms.

He is the one who turned Bartholomew Kuma into a cyborg and has created countless Pacifista duplicates of him, providing them with some of Kizaru’s Devil Fruit skills in the process. These dummies bleed real blood.

However, they lack Kuma’s Devil Fruit abilities. Sentomaru revealed that the latest Pacifista had been further modified after the two-year time gap; these were eventually revealed to be the Seraphim, replicas of the Seven Warlords of the Sea in their youth but with Lunarian features. The lasers placed in the Pacifista were supposed to be so advanced that only Vegapunk could build them. It was also said that the dragons present on Punk Hazard were created by Vegapunk.

Vegapunk was able to survive Caesar Clown’s mass murder weapon’s explosion. It’s unclear whether his “Stella” body was present and strong enough to survive the explosion, or if one of his Satellite bodies took his place. He also discovered techniques to allow Marine ships to pass through the Calm Belts without fear of a Sea King attack by coating the bottom of the ships with Seastone during his studies.

The Special Abilities of Vegapunk

Devil Fruit

Vegapunk consumed the Nomi Nomi no Mi (Brain-Brain) Devil Fruit, which is a Paramecia-type. The fruit's ability allows his brain to store an infinite amount of data and recall all he has ever learned. It also causes his brain and cranium to constantly expand as he gains new knowledge.

Satellites

Due to his inventions, Vegapunk managed to separate his being into six different people, referred to as satellites, who share Vegapunk’s intellect via Punk Records. These satellites all identify as Dr. Vegapunk and will announce themselves as such, but they also have their own names and numbers to differentiate them.

The satellites are also distinct in that they each represent a different component of Vegapunk’s personality. They also use various first-person pronouns and speaking patterns. The “Stella” is his true body.

Vegapunk is much more productive now that he has divided himself into six people because his satellites can operate independently at the same time. The fact that each of his satellites can be outfitted with guns, vehicles, and technology makes Vegapunk far more difficult to deal with in combat.

The satellites may communicate with each other via an earphone and may share senses, as Shaka was able to observe what was going on around Lilith while they were in different locations. One satellite can be assigned to perform necessary biological duties, which allows the others to avoid them. York is currently in charge of eating, sleeping, urinating, and defecating on behalf of the other satellites.

Scientific Achievements

There are a variety of Scientific Inventions that Vegapunk has created, each with their own specialty. The types of those inventions are divided into different categories:

  • Biological and Geological

  • Devil Fruits Researches

  • Weaponry

  • Various Blueprints

  • Gas-proof suits

  • Cooking machine

  • Holograms

  • Jetpacks

  • Light-Pressure Gloves

  • Recycle-Wan

  • Changing Room

  • New Model Livestream Den Den Mushi

  • DOM shoes

Vegapunk’s Relationship with Others

Satellites

Vegapunk's satellites, despite all being extensions of his personality, have individual wills and desires. Each satellite embodies a different aspect of Vegapunk's character.

York

York, one of Vegapunk's satellites, betrayed him and her fellow satellites to pursue her own ambition of becoming a World Noble. This betrayal led to her being treated as an enemy by Vegapunk and the other satellites.

World Government

Vegapunk has had a rocky relationship with the World Government. Despite being arrested by them in the past for his experiments, he later became their chief scientist in the Marines and eventually the leader of the SSG (Special Science Group).

The World Government, represented by CP0, is currently on a mission to kill Vegapunk. This decision is based on their fear that Vegapunk might uncover too much about the truth, particularly related to the Ancient Kingdom, which he learned about from the books saved by the scholars of Ohara during the Ohara Incident.

Vegapunk's choice to keep the knowledge about the Ancient Kingdom a secret suggests a level of mistrust and a desire to protect information from the World Government. He seems to be aware of the potential consequences if they were to discover certain truths.

Vegapunk does not seem to view the World Government in a positive light. He admitted to the Straw Hats that he used all the funding given for his inventions and joined the World Government to further his own research, indicating a level of self-interest.

Saint Jaygarcia Saturn

There is a clear antagonistic relationship between Vegapunk and Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. The two have engaged in heated arguments, particularly regarding the ethical aspects of Kuma's conversion into a human weapon.

Their mutual disrespect for each other is evident, with Vegapunk fearlessly challenging Saturn and expressing concerns about the unethical nature of certain experiments. On the other hand, Saturn rejects Vegapunk's concerns and asserts his authority, reminding Vegapunk of his place.

Saturn's order for Vegapunk's death, especially due to his research into the Void Century, emphasizes the severity of their conflict. Their in-person encounters are hostile.

Sentomaru

Vegapunk and Sentomaru share a more complex relationship. Vegapunk saved Sentomaru when he was a young boy, creating a sense of personal debt on Sentomaru's part. Vegapunk uses this debt to exert pressure on Sentomaru, attempting to sway his loyalty from the Marines to himself.

Despite the indebted dynamic, Sentomaru serves as Vegapunk's bodyguard. Sentomaru's progression from a bodyguard to a Marine officer indicates a significant commitment to Vegapunk's cause.

Shaka, who appears to trust Sentomaru's abilities and loyalty, entrusts him with command over Seraphim during CP0's invasion of Egghead.

Vegapunk's deep sadness and open display of emotion when Sentomaru is struck down reveal the genuine concern and emotional connection between the two.

Kizaru (Borsalino)

In their earlier days, Vegapunk and Kizaru were acquainted during their time as Marine cadets. They, along with a young Sentomaru, formed a close trio. Borsalino even agreed to use his Devil Fruit ability for Vegapunk's study projects and to entertain Sentomaru.

Over the years, their relationship soured, especially when Borsalino, now an admiral, brought a Marine fleet to surround Vegapunk's island under orders. Vegapunk became apprehensive, expressing dislike for this side of Borsalino.

Despite the tension, they were still on relatively good terms, as seen when they were eating and partying together with Sentomaru. However, Vegapunk bluntly told Borsalino to shut up when he defended the idea of turning Kuma into a human weapon.

Three and a half years later, the World Government deems Vegapunk a threat, leading to Kizaru being sent to kill him. Vegapunk is aware of Kizaru's strength, fear, and panic when confronted by him. Kizaru, in turn, admits that having to kill an old friend isn't easy for him.

Fujitora (Issho)

Vegapunk's relationship with Fujitora appears to be more amicable. Vegapunk revealed a new invention to Fujitora that could potentially lead to the abolishment of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system.

The fact that Vegapunk is willing to share such significant inventions with Fujitora suggests a level of trust and cooperation between them.

Caesar Clown

Despite once being colleagues, Vegapunk and Caesar Clown developed a bitter rivalry based on recognition and ethical differences.

Vegapunk's decision to dismiss Caesar from his position stemmed from Caesar's erratic behavior and the perception that he was second-best to Vegapunk. This dismissal fueled Caesar's grudge against Vegapunk.

Vegapunk looked down on some of Caesar's achievements, such as considering the SMILEs to be unacceptable. This further strained their professional relationship.

Bartholomew Kuma

Vegapunk and Bartholomew Kuma's relationship began when Kuma sought a cure for his daughter's disease. Vegapunk offered to cure Bonney in exchange for Kuma's participation in his cloning project, an offer Kuma accepted to save his daughter.

Over the next two years, Vegapunk and Kuma grew closer as friends, despite the experiments conducted on Kuma, including one involving materializing memories through his Devil Fruit abilities.

Vegapunk was visibly angered when Jaygarcia Saturn ordered to erase Kuma's free will and memories. Despite his initial attempt to refuse, Vegapunk complied when Kuma accepted the terms to protect Bonney, moving Vegapunk to tears.

Vegapunk tried to reason with Saturn to allow Kuma some minimal willpower during the process, but Saturn insisted on complete erasure, even adding a self-destruct switch. Before completing the operation, Vegapunk acknowledged Kuma as a hero for his sacrifices and efforts to Bonney and others.

Monkey D. Dragon

Vegapunk and Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, share a cordial relationship rooted in their contempt for the corruption within the World Government.

Despite their shared ideals, Vegapunk declined Dragon's invitation to join the Revolutionary Army, deeming the organization to be financially poor. However, they maintain contact with each other, and Dragon recommended Vegapunk to Bartholomew Kuma when he sought a cure for Jewelry Bonney.

Clover

Vegapunk was friends with Professor Clover, the famous archaeologist from Ohara. Devastated by the Government's actions against Ohara and the launch of a Buster Call, Vegapunk paid tribute to the lives lost by placing flowers.

Vegapunk continued Clover's legacy by going to Elbaf to read the library of books retrieved by the New Giant Warrior Pirates.

Jewelry Bonney

Vegapunk has known Bonney since she was a child. However, Bonney holds a grudge against him for turning her father, Kuma, into a mindless cyborg.

Initially, Bonney threatened to kill Vegapunk and demanded that he change her father back to normal. Vegapunk, acting in rebellion against Saturn, turned Kuma into a cyborg without conscience. Once Bonney learned the truth, her resentment shifted from Vegapunk to Jaygarcia Saturn.

Stussy

Stussy is the first successful clone created by Vegapunk and MADS. She is loyal to Vegapunk and has served as a spy in the World Government for over two decades.

Despite her long-term role as a spy, Stussy is awaiting Vegapunk's orders to help him, even if it means betraying CP0. She has visited Egghead in the past and demonstrated her loyalty by protecting Vegapunk from Rob Lucci, using herself as a human shield.

Straw Hat Pirates

Monkey D. Luffy

Vegapunk has a particular interest in Luffy due to learning from Kuma about Luffy being Dragon's son and having similarities to Nika. He fulfills Kuma's last wish to protect the Thousand Sunny.

Vegapunk recognizes Luffy's potential and trusts him to take him away from Egghead, seeing Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as the only ones capable of keeping him safe from the World Government.

Nami

Nami is more wary of Vegapunk despite acknowledging his genius. She objects to bringing Vegapunk and his satellites on the ship due to potential problems.

Usopp

Similar to Nami, Usopp is wary of Vegapunk, recognizing his genius but cautious about the potential threat his inventions pose to pirates in general.

Tony Tony Chopper

Chopper is greatly impressed by many of Vegapunk's inventions, particularly those with medical purposes. Chopper's admiration for Vegapunk's creations aligns with his own passion for medicine.

Nico Robin

Robin is grateful to Vegapunk for protecting Ohara's legacy and revealing crucial information about her old friend Saul's survival.

Franky

Franky, being a fellow scientist with a passion for creativity, is a huge admirer of Vegapunk. His admiration extends from reading Vegapunk's notes on Baldimore to being increasingly impressed upon meeting the scientist and his satellites in person.
